Where are all the tablets in SA?

Besides for the cheap brands that no one knows, the only tablets that are still available in SA are pretty much Samsung, and lenovo, and the lenovo are 1GB models. Everything else only has 8GB space.
What happened to all the other big brands?

I think he meant, where are all our spec options. Not just apple and their 2000'th model of ipad.

We used to have 1-4gb ram, 8-64GB storage, 7", 8", 8.4", 10.1", 12" on android side
Windows side we had 7", 8", and now just the 10.1" for the 'cheaper' models

Main issue in SA is price after import.. people not willing to spend 8k on an android tablet where they can just buy a Windows laptop and be more productive.

Tablets pretty much died on the Android front, mainly because Android wasn't a tablet specific OS. Yes you can get some decent Chinese brand tablets, but most of the big OEMS stopped making them. LG, Sony and others dropped tablets, leaving on really Samsung and Huawei really making them and Huawei doesn't make great ones either.

90% a variation of a Samsung Tablet or Apple iPad? Out of 44 available 17 are iPad and 15 are Samsung.

Yes Android Honeycomb (3.0) that's it never went further with it, after honeycomb was Ice-cream Sandwich which was for all Android devices and it wasn't optimised for tablets. There are also no tablet optimised apps in the google play store.

Beauty of Android is apps can scale so for eg. the gmail app can scale to the bigger screen.

Yup they are gone, my old Tablet Z is still kind of chucking along.

Bummer. Yeah I also have a Tablet Z. Dropped it many times, so the screen is cracked, half-black and two of the four speakers aren't working anymore. I use it daily as a white noise generator but man, I want a new one!

Mine has also been dropped a lot in it's 5 years, only thing wrong with it is it's getting sloooow and sometimes it decides to fast forward by itself.

I would love a iPad Pro rivaling Android based tablet other than a Samsung one! Not a fan of Samsung...

The market is generally flat. Asus Zenpad 3S 10 9.7 has long been regarded as one of the best outside of Samsung. Quite cheap too, around R5k off of Amazon but I don't really think it could go toe to toe with a 2018 iPad pro.
