Hi Papaya,
Many of my friends are somewhat "out of the mold", so perhaps these are worth asking yourself (entirely rhetorical):
- Do I really want a kid, or do I believe that it is what is expected of me?
- Do I really believe that a kid will give me some sort of immortality? What about adoption?
- Do I need a kid to fit in (since apparently, this is all people talk about)? Is perhaps finding different people to hang out with a better solution?
- Have I really considered what a kid that demands my attention 24/7 will do to my life?
- Is it perhaps where I live or who I seek out as friends (religious group, ex-school mates, etc.), that is the reason the nuclear family seems so normal?
- Do I really need a man to be part of my life?
- Do I really need to have a relationship with a man to have kid?
- Do I see age as some sort of set of milestones, by which certain things have to be done? Who sets those milestones? Should I care about this/these persons(s)? Do they really care about me (or the list)?
As for online dating - it's just as real (or fake) as any other kind of dating. You meet someone, they pretend to be what you say you want for a few months, until the facade falls away, and then you each get to decide if you each like what remains.
My wife and I (past 40, both), have no kids, and have never wanted any, and very few of our friends have them too. This is actually pretty common when living in a big city vs suburbs, BTW. Our few friends who do include people who have adopted, and single woman who have just decided to have a kid via a donor.

Got a a friend who is single and about to start the process of inutero fertilization. An acquaintance of mine is single and she adopted a kid, was quite a process though but she is quite happy with it.
Guess I'd have to hint a lot ... I'm attracted to women with black hair. Can't explain it. My working theory is men are attracted to women that remind them of their mother.and if you're dating/married and she reverts back to her normal hair color?
I always find these requirements odd![]()
