Hi,

I am with Afrihost and am looking for a new provider, as they don't seem to be able to sort out their line issues.

I am currently on the 10 Mb uncapped, and am looking for a comparable offer from someone else.

I need it mainly to stream via XBMC on my Fire TV and the occasional P2P, which I can have running after hours.

In average I have a usage of 300GB / month.

Can anyone recommend a ISP they made experiences with?

Thanks

This will work for you;

WA, they are more expensive, but trust me I moved to them from AF.... Dude, its a new world !

Try WA. I've been with them since the beginning of the month and I've got nothing but good things to say. Was with AH for 5 years or so, but I just couldn't handle the bull**** of these last few months. AH is now my backup account.

Exactly I was with them from the days when they where still run from a garage.

But Gian has sold out the integrity of his company and the last 4 months made it impossible forcing me to move.

With WA now, never has internet been such a Joy!

And yes AF I said Joy

I also left Afrihost, then tried Crystalweb. Had a very bad experience with Crystalweb and left within 2 weeks - this month tried 3 accounts - Axxess (again), the much maligned Openweb and WA, all capped on a 4mb/s line. Axxess was totally crap. I had a pleasantly good experience on both Openweb and WA (home capped) - they are both on the IS backbone. I like the transparency on how WA prioritise their traffic. Had to decide whether I would go for the home capped pro with WA and found it is not even necessary.

Sadly the issues with multiple isp's including crystalweb, afrihost, mweb and openweb has finally opened my eyes.

I am going to get capped. I tried webafrica uncapped home and that was horrible. business cost more than capped accounts but I am sure it would work great too...

You just need to choose the right account for your needs.

Home uncapped is for downloading at midnight.

If you need to download during the day go business.

And yes you get what you pay more.

Lol I don't download a lot... my average usuage is around 90-100gb...

I just want to (be able to) stream and game 24/7. Sadly most accounts do not allow you to do that. With WA accounts having high pings during the day. I am not sure about the business accounts and I would love a trail to test but capped seems to be the best option.

Crystalweb gave me promise with their accounts but it was too good to be true. Maybe when their network is correct and you can buy a 2meg account and not be forced to pay for your line speed I will consider them again.

I honestly didn't have any problems with an Mweb Business uncapped package (its been a few years, not sure how much its changed)

* They supply you with a Cisco router (which is a REALLY big deal - the router costs upwards of R12 000 I think) they preprogram it according to your specifications (if you know enough about network architecture to have specifications) and you can call them 24/7 for them to remotely modify the router.
* They sit on the phone for over 3 hrs fighting with telkom on your behalf
* They sms you updates about any issues with the network

Honestly, if it wasn't for problems with telkom and the physical ADSL line, I would still be with them.
If they had a satellite package, I would probably still be with them.

Home capped performs the same as Business uncapped.

Been on Business uncapped for over 6months now.
