Where to host?

Hetzner does cost more than other hosting providers, but they are only a phone call away and if your site gets hacked they can deal with it immediately. My friend has a high profile site and they identified the hacker in a few hours. Worth it.

Which of the mainstream hosting companies will host a MySQL database with the following requirements:
- Possibility of administering the database with "MySQL Administrator"
- 10 to 20 users, each with their own schema privileges
- Remote users will connect with ODBC
- Database size max 100mb

Ive seen a special offering from 50mb local hosting plus a free .co.za domain for R100 a year , php and mysql was listed in the features.
pm me if you want the url , I dont want to get blamed for spam.

Seemed like a good deal especially seeing some companies charge you R100 for the .co.za domain alone.

I would stay away from MWEB (see my other post). I will PM you the hosting company's details I moved to.

Their servers are fine. The server support has been 50/50 between meh and good in my experience.
Their web hosting (the support) has been shocking, in my experience.

go to Godaddy. There is no hope for SA web hosting, too expensive, yet you get very little.

In the process of transferring our domain from Afrihost. They have a problem with their DNS servers and are not prepared to admit it. I even emailed Gian with proof of the problem and never received a reply, so, it was goodbye Afrihost (though the process is not quite complete yet).

DONT go with MWEB for your hosting. It is impossible for you to manage your own account. You will spend hours with support just trying to add new email addresses.

Having cPanel access and flexible control over your hosting should be a deciding factor.
