Which Blackberry to get ???

Is BIS linked to the phone itself or the SIM card?
Reason I am asking. My fiancee's contract is also on my name and is eligible for upgrade. I would like to upgrade to the 9700 and take the phone. But she must keep the SIM and number.

And do I wait a few more days for new MTN specials? Or is the R359(incl BIS) on MTN Anytime 200 a good deal?
 
I think it's R369, you might wait it go go lower (then again last month it went up from R359 so who knows?)
BIS is activated on the SIM Card, you can put the sim in any blackberry and get BIS. You'll have to add BIS subscription (R60 or R70 a month) to your contract if you want to use the BIS, the subscription is attached to the phone. However you can upgrade her contract without BIS now (and you'll save R60 a month) so you won't have to pay anything extra but make it clear to MTN you don't want BIS on this contract.

So I should do the upgrade, but the one without BIS? I think it is R299. Then I can insert my SIM and activate BIS on that SIM and phone combination?
Sorry, still a noob here. But the bug has bitten me and I will definitely get a BB this month.
 
Now to get any MTN store with stock.
Tried Menlyn and Menlyn Retail now, and both don't have stock.

So much better than the 8520. Faster, better looking, better screen. I love it.

Happened right after I installed Twitter. Hard reset fixed it but I uninstalled Twitter anyways and downloaded UberTwitter.
Hasn't happened since.

The O/S on the phone now. Is that the most up to date O/S?
 
oronte, on vodacom with the bold 9700, would one be connecting to BIS via 3G? Or is one restricted to EDGE?

Looking at the latest cellucity brochure, the bold 9700 has dropped in price by R10 per month (BB talk 100 contract) and is now R419 p.m. :) Will find out tomorrow from Vodashop if it's the same with them. Its also available on a the cheaper BB Talk 75, but seems more worthwhile to go for the BB talk 100.

P.S. cellucity have cool holder/cover/sleeves that are like the ones that come with the bold 9000. (Ltd. edition leather pocket for R289)
 
BB Bold 9700 GPS question

does the SatNav GPS that comes with Blackberry phones have voice navigation? i.e. Turn left in 400m, continue straight for 1.5km, etc...
Is that what they call turn by turn navigation? Is the voice part not a given?
