I'm in the market for a used car around the R130k mark.

Been looking at the Honda Jazz, Civic, Kia Rio, Cerato, Ford Fiesta... but nothing seems to catch my eye. Ideally anything with 100k km max or below. Even looked at the Astra, but not many around.

Went through some previous threads but they seem to turn into a mud slinging match .

Without having done much research i would take the B7 Audi A4 2.0 T. i know they go for that price, with a slight bump in price i'd definitely look for a B8 model.. B8 interior is awesome.

I recently bought a 2013 Honda Jazz for R136000. Amazing car, and the magic seats have been put to good use a few times! Only had about 30000km on.

Why not a Polo...? I have the exact same problem. I am looking at a Freelander, but everyone is telling me to stay away. The same happened with the Audi. Are older cars really that bad or is it just so much easier to find the negative reviews?

This. 2007/2008. Around 100,000km they go for as little as R110,000.

Or get the 2.0 N/A if hesitant about the turbo (which you needn't be).

Interior is also better quality than the B8.

Many reasons for this (besides Freelander 1s and 2s, I think, being notoriously bad).

Dealers and dealership servicing & parts pricing contribute a lot to the negative perceptions. Remember that they need to sell new cars to stay in business, so they rely on fear of 'old' 'high mileage' cars. People who get a quote for a new turbo get prices of R30,000+. Yet from a turbo specialist they are R5,000.

Combined with this is that most people who use cars are ignorant about them, and they also have a tremendous fear about 'old' and 'high mileage'.

Most people think 100,000km is high mileage.

Sure, some people have been legitimately burned, but there are old and new lemons out there.

So what do you guys think of this:

2009 2L turbo Opel Astra with 69k km going for R135k... Not much info in the ad and terrible pics. Might be a scam for all I know... and it's Opel, but I do like.

Also looking at a 2010 3 Series BMW with 93KM on the clock for R139,900. Just got rid of my 1 Series, so I naturally gravitate toward BMW.

Another option is a 2012 2.0 Mitsubishi Lancer with 69k km going for R139,900.

Lol Roux has shotgun on this one I think.

Seems too cheap.

Hey! How dare you...this is Roux (dream) ride

Just know a Honda is killer to repair. There parts are seriously expensive. Not knocking them though. They are fabulously high quality but just know that they are not cheap to repair.

I'd be inclined to buy a new Ford Figo for that price. (Or slightly over.)

Lol the new 2nd Gen Figo starts at this...for the bum spec model....

For that money I'll get a 1/2yr EcoBoost Fiesta....far better...
