Which Car For R150 000?

Okay, First Of All I'm Using The Net On My Phone.so Hence The Caps Lock;-)
The Problem With Vw Cars Is That They Generally Have Not Got Much Features When Compared To Other Cars Of Same Price Range.
The Girls Car And Boys Car Thing? I'd Rather Ask You If You Would Drive Any Old Car Or Dont You Have Taste?
The Corolla Is Great, But I Only Like The New Model And I Think The Mazda Still Is A Better Deal, Looks And Feature Wise.
I Did Consider The Audi And Beemers,but Like I Said, Its More Expensive To Maintain Fuel Wise And Parts Wise. Please Do Correct Me Wherever I'm Wrong.
 
You might be surprised on the cost to maintain things like audi's and bmw's nowadays..

All cars are almost the same cost to service etc... (except the french ones, they're just stupidly expensive)

IS IT? DO YOU HAVE AN APPROXIMATE IDEA OF WHAT IT COSTS AND WHICH MODEL OR MAKE IS MORE DEPENDABLE? BESIDES, IT SHOULD HAVE QUITE THE LOT OF FEATURES TOO

TB: That's if you can manage to rev it up to 3rd gear, what with it weighing 1.5 tons :p

PROBLEM HERE IS THAT MY ROOMIE HAS THE GOLF5, AND WE WORK TOGETHER TOO. SO ITS WEIRD HAVING TWO OF THE SAME CARS, ELSE I'D HAVE GOT IT ANYDAY

johndev : A service on a A4 will set you back roughly R1100.. service on my golf is about the same.

If you buy an Audi from an approved dealer, you usually get a 40000km "freeway" plan, which should cover 2 or 3 services for free, plus any other "problems" that you have with the car.

As for your roomate having a golf5... don't let that stop you getting one if you like the car. NEVER base a car decision on what someone else has got. Buy what you want, and can afford.

HGP : Mine so does not weigh 1.5 tons... 1.4 may, but NOT 1.5 :p
 
I'd also say the Jazz 1.5 VTEC. Pretty good handling, good power and torque, lots of interior space and good fuel economy.

Person I know who has one gets moderately good motorway fuel economy, but absolutely horrible figures in an urban environment.

WOW, YOU SURE YOU DIDN'T GET THE NUMBERS WRONG THERE?
I THINK THATS AWESOME IF ITS ALL YOU USUALLY HAVE TO PAY FOR A COMPLETE SERVICE. AND HOW ARE THE PART PRICES ON THE A4?
MOST CARS I SAW COME WITH AROUND 100K KILOMETERS ON THE CLOCK AND THAT SOUNDS A BIT WORRYSOME. WHATS YOUR TAKE ON THAT?
 
Part prices nowadays are high for every car.... so it all depends.

As for the service, nope, thats the price I was quoted on my car... and it pretty much matched the price my oldman was quoted for his audi.

As for the 100k on the clock. If the car has done on average 20-25k per year and has a full service history and you get it from on of the audi dealers with the freeway plan, then its all good.

So what would you buy for R150k thats safe, reliable and cheap to maintain then JK8?

But if your roomie has a Mk5 why not get one also? Dont live in his shadow:p

Or get an Audi 2.0 FSI and up...
 
I would suggest u go for that Mazda. It's a nice car. Almost as reliable as a Toyota.
