Which Car For R150 000?

I Just Started Working And I Need A Reliable Car For Going To Work Etc.
I'm Willing To Spend Upto 150 000 Rand. Could You Guys Suggest Some Good Second Hand Cars To Go For, Within That Budget?
I've Noted That The Mazda 3 Individual 2.0 Is A Good Car, In Terms Of Value For Money, Features, Looks, Fuel Economy And Maintenance Costs. Any Other Views? Do Ket Me Know.
 
Get a brand new Honda Jazz Vtec 1.5 for R147 000, it comes with a 3 year maintenance plan, best value car around imo.

YEA, I THOUGHT ABT THAT TOO, AWESOME CAR, BUT THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME AWAY IS THAT ITS MORE LIKE A GIRL'S CAR, RIGHT?
 
What are you looking for in a car? I mean...safety, speed, fuel consumption, power, looks? Rather go for a classic or a newer car with limited depreciation?

I'M LOOKING FOR AN ENGINE WITH GOOD POWER, THEN SAFETY AND COMFORT FEATURES AND LOW MAINTENANCE COSTS. I'M NOT TOO KEEN IN A BEEMER OR AUDI COZ OF THE EXPENSIVE PARTS AND MAINTENANCE COSTS INVOLVED. AND CONSUMPTION TOO IS PRETTY HIGH ON THOSE CARS , SO IT'D BE A BIT TOO EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN
 
Of course there is HelloThere... but then you wouldn't really know since you aren't old enough to drive, and mommy has to drive you everywhere.

Anything in the small range is usually a womans car..... its a simple fact.
 
I think you should at least consider a Toyota Corolla. Not very powerful, but well built and low maintenance. But the Jazz is a great car as ATI suggested - just looked too much like a soccer mom's car for my liking :D

YEA, I AGREE, BUT I THINK THE COROLLA IS A BIT TOO BIG FOR ME. ISN'T IT MORE LIKE FOR OLDER PEOPLE.
HOW MANY OF YOU SUPPORT THE MAZDA 3 OPTION?
 
I'd go for a Jetta perhaps. For some reason Mazda just doesn't appeal to me. A newer Jetta has a lot of power, wears out well, has reasonable fuel consumption...consider it. My mother still drives a Jetta that she must have had for 8 years now, and she got a newer car but then still preferred the Jetta.


And what's with the caps lock?
 
If you can get a decent Jetta4 for that money, it would be a good buy...

As for the corolla...they're an everymans car, not an older persons car. They're good, safe, reliable and relatively cheap to maintain.
 
What's the view on the Toyota Tazz?

I happen to like the car quite a bit and its completely non expensive to maintain and very reasonable on fuel.

What you guys think?
 
probably the sensible option from a reliability and cost perspective, but absolutely no features and no option of installing a ***** magnet :) but if you looking for reliability then thats your best bet..
 
The Tazz is a v v good car, in terms of reliability....

Safety and "features" like aircon etc, it scores a big fat zero.. pretty much along the lines of the ****tigolf.
