Which Car For R150 000?

Honda Civic EXI or LXI. Good 1.8 Vtec engine and very comfortable and good looking. I drive the VXi (its a bit out of your price range) but I am more than happy with it. LXi 2nd hand will be in your price range.
 
As a noob to the corporate world, I reckon you are spending too much on a car though. You should never finance a depreciating asset.
 
My friend just bought a Fiat Punto 1.3TD for R142 000, he is really happy with it.

Agree, I got 2006 corsa lite with A/C for R70k when I started working. Where u told that u can afford a car that's 10times your gross salary?
 
Whatever you buy - do 'n price check on the typical package of service related spares first. These salesmen only want to sell you the car - the fact that it costs a fortune to repair/service afterwards, is not there concern. I know - have been there - have the T-shirt. I once bought my wife a "mickey mouse" Daihutsu Cuore (now Charade). The saleseman reminded me that it used the least petrol on the Total Economy Run, but he "forgot" to mention that the aircleaner alone costs R508-00 to replace.

This is typically the case with all-imported cars. They do not sell in enough volume to allow a Company like GUD or Fram to manufacture replacement parts at reasonable prices.

My advice - do not be "badge bed%nn&rd". Scan the Car Mag's grey pages for cars under R150k, ask the question above, and test drive the ones' you fancy.
 
I've decided to try go for a bit more expensive car as they will be more reliable. I've narrowed down my options to two cars, either the honda accord 2.4 (exec or type S), or the audi a3 2.0 FSI. which do you say is better? both are available in a price range above 150k
 
There's an all new Accord coming out soonish, so I wouldn't buy one now.

AND HAVE YOU SEEN IT? IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP. THE INTERIORS ARE THE GOOD PART OF IT.AND BESIDES, IT'D COST A LOT MORE AND I NEED A CAR SOON.
 
I like both, but buy the Honda - it is a wonderful, yet (for some reason) underrated car. It also comes in a 2 liter version - still with all the bells and whistles.
 
The Honda accord is an amazing car, for the price you pay you get a whole lot of car. Unfortunately it is very underrated as people would rather go BM or Merc, however the market is slowly starting to appreciate the accord. If I could afford 1 I would get that...

On a different note, and im sure I will spark an argument here, but the new Merc C class 180 is out @ a ridiculously stupid price starting @ R287 000 and that doesn’t even get you leather seats...I love the car but man that is a rip off of note! In an article on News24 people tore the car to pieces because of the price....But as some ppl said the hordes still go and buy the car for status.
