I knew we are discussing a (fairly) new car, but it was too tempting to advise to get a Cayman. And in reality Caymans are at their lowest now and will not lose any more value. As do the 996. But the latter is more expensive to run.

So you are talking Cayman/Cayenne Porsches with +- 200 000 KM on the odometer?
Would you buy that with your own +- R 350 000?
Definitely doesn't seem like sound advice.
I bought one with 120k mls. And there are two MY 2008 for less and only 92k km and 109k km for sale right now on autotrader.
And while you ask, why would I buy a POS 1.x litre eco-box which falls apart soon and depreciates like crazy? With nil performance?
Even if the Cayman costs more to maintain. Not at Porsche, tho. That would be silly.
And at the bottom of their value, those Caymans won't lose any more value.
