Which Cellphone?????

Judging from this thread, it seems as though you can't force UMTS in order to use 3G on the N73, you have to run it in Dual Mode and let the phone decide when to switch between 3G and GPRS (not to mention dropping the connection each time it switches).

Pretty dumb if you ask me that a R4000 phone doesn't have the ability to do this.
Ye, not good. :(
N80? No such issues?

Not really, got the wi-fi to work at a coffee shop in Menlyn Park though, free internet rawks :D

I'm not trying to promote the N80, cos I don't want everyone walking around with my phone :p :D Just saying that one should look at the little things which could turn out to be a big thing. Not being able to use the N73, a R4000 phone, in 3G-only mode is a big thing.

So if you could choose between the following phones you will still choose the N80?

N80
N91
i-Mate K-Jam
i-Mate SP5
i-Mate Jamin
i-Mate Smartflip
SE P990

Or will you choose something else?

Agreed. That's why I wanna know what, and if, stuff actually works and not just on paper as a selling point ;)

That's why I do proper research before I get a new phone.
I don't think any phone can really beat my i-Mate Jasjar. Even though it has 1 or 2 problems.
You forgot to mention you can use it for weights and **added bonus** as a lethal weapon :p ;) :D

Yeah, but it's a personal preference really and I guess it depends on your needs and usage patterns as well. I wouldn't take the N91 because I don't really need a 4GB hard drive on my phone, I could use any amount of 1GB SD cards if the need for storage arose.

With the i-Mate's I guess it's a guess of Windows Mobile vs. Symbian. My preference tends to go to Symbian, but others may find WM better.

SE P990 I haven't really had the chance to play around with one yet, but SE generally make excellent phones.

Why not a K800i? Just suggesting...

Cara, Piesang is like a cat on a hot tin roof at the moment (almost like myself two months ago), but I'm sure he will go for the Sony P990i - there is just no other phone on the market that can compare to it. :)

Piesang has been visiting the P990i thread under MTN Broadband a lot lately - I think he wants a P990i & us (owners of P990i's) to convince him... ;)

The K800i is indeed a very good/cool phone, also the W850i.

*Sorry Cara, not suggesting that you don't know mobile phones, but I know Piesang's history... :)

Oh, this is what the P990i looks like : http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_p990-review-101.php

Ok, here you go guys.

At the moment I have the following phones:

i-Mate Jasjar
Nokia 6630
Nokia 6131
SE W810i
SE P900
Samsung D600

So I thought, why not go for Nokia's flagship phone and take the N80. So yes, I did just that and add a N80 to my collection. With my other contract due for upgrade in the next 3 months I have enough time to play with the N80 and pass it on to my wife if I see anything else that I want then. Maybe the N95 if it's available. If not I'lll choose something else and then wait another 5 months and take something on my next upgrade on the contract my wife uses. Luckily for me she dosn't really worry about phones.

She is using the Nokia 6131 for business and the Samsung D600 for personal use.

I'll be using my new N80 for business and the W810i for fun.

The P900, Nokia 6630 and i-Mate Jasjar will probably be sold as it's just going to lie around and gather up dust.

I didn't want to go for the SE P990 because it was too close to the P900 that I don't like anymore and also didn't worry about the K-Jam or TyTN because the Jasjar is way better than those two.

I know I made the right choice taking the N80.

Thanks for your help and input also you guys.;)
