which DVD writer????

Ok, so my dvd writer on my laptop is crap, its a ricoh 8165 piece of crap and the only things i can write are dvd+rw verbatims!!!

thinking of a dual layer Gigabyte GO-W1616A !!!

Any opinions on dvd writers???

My ps2 runs very well with dysan dvd+r, +r media seems to be working well for me!
 
SONY,Pioneer those kinda brands
Sahara,Samsung & all the cheaper brands tend to give trouble.Trust me i know from experience...
 
Yeah like burley said brands like aopen tend to start fine and die after a little while. Buy either Sony, Pioneer or LG and happy you will be :D

It's a Gigabyte Rebranded not sony.

Samsung are not bad for the price you pay. But if you want something really good at a price SONY.

Don't know about Gigabyte but in saying that Sony does not rebrand LiteON you are wrong again.

There is even a section on cdfreakes.com called " LiteOn DVD Burner / Sony DVD Burner" CLICK

Do you even read the **** you post ? that site is asking witch one is better not saying they are the same. FOR **** SAKE PHONE RECTRON AND ASK THEM YOURSELF. 021 555 7111 .

Hehe never said Gigabyte is not LiteON only said I dont know about that one. But if you browse around the forum I linked you will find threads where they list the LiteON drives and which Sony drives are liteON as well.

My my you really need to calm down. Saying AMD no longer make Athlon 64's because they are 32bit or something(too lazy to link that thread right now) and then the whole Gainward fiasco where you were wrong again and now this.

Shame, I pitty anyone who buys parts/pc's from you.

Meanwhile, the LGs are good, as well as the Sony drives. Stay away from AOpen (they die... <sigh>). Haven't tried any others.

Maybe you should hold out for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray hehehehe!

BTW let us know how the Gigabyte turns out, give us an update sometime.
