Which Fibre ISP?

Hi all.

Just joined, and been reading up quite a bit on this. What's your thoughts about Vodacom as an ISP...? They currently have a special on 50/50 line for R599pm for the first couple months (contract term dependent), then R699pm thereafter. Rep confirms that speed should average around 42-50Mbps, with about 15 devices that can connect. They also offer free LTE for 30 days while you await your fibre setup.

Same contract with other ISPs are:
1.) Cool Ideas @ R929 (properly ridiculous I'd say!!)
2.) Afrihost @ R729
3.) WebSquad @ R749 (doubt I'll qualify for the 25/10 line when it does launch as my area is a "high uptake and usage area" so unlikely to be prone to specials)

The area I'm in is exclusively Vumatel, so quite limited.

Vodacom has a fair use policy.

Scroll down to the table. There's a reason they're cheaper. Their 50/50 line has a 1.5 TB per month FUP, so if you're a high data user, then rather skip.

If you apply for our 20Mbps package you will receive 50Mbps as things stand, I suspect other ISPs are listing pricing based on the current promo and on the basis that Vumatel will make it permanent.

The one reason I didn't go with them when moving ISPs, was that FUP.
At Level-7 you can't check your usage, assuming because they don't care and they don't have a FUP :)

@PBCool I'm almost certain that they are displaying as current. So, are you saying that your current 50/50 line is R749pm?

If you apply for 50/50 with us you would receive 100/100 based on the promo. So if you apply for 20/20 you would receive a 50/50.

I hope that clarifies :)

It has the same net effect though?
The 20Mbps would now be 50Mbps at the same price as the original 20Mbps, and so on
Yes but I'm asking if you are saying the changes are based on the new proposed commercials?

Its not actually based on Vumatel making the promotion a permanent change.

I wasn't referring to your commercials

The reply, as above, was for the below:

Apologies for the confusion

So perfect then, your 50/50 line is R749pm. And when you refer to “permanency”, do you mean that the 20/10 line that I’d be applying for will be temporarily upgraded to 50/50, and then returned to 20/10 from around Feb 23…? Or will the upgrade itself be permanent?

Ito details of your offer:
1.) What router do use supply?
2.) R200 router delivery fee? (no one else charges for delivery)

The packages will realign on the new commercials with Vumatel, the router is a TPLink C20.

We actually aren't the only ones to charge a delivery fee, but also take note the router is then yours to keep.

@RocketNet-Rep seems your service is well-reviewed. I see online that your std price for a 50/50 line is R725pm, discounted to R625pm for the 1st 6 months.

Just some queries though:

1.) As your services are M2M, are there any cancellation fees applicable? If so, what are the terms?
2.) What basic router do you offer? And what is the associated delivery cost?

Thanks.

Good Day Chicayne,
Please see below answer to your question with full openness and transparency.

1.) Yes the services are M2M. Should you opt for a Free Installation covered by RocketNet, there will be cancellation fees applicable and these are outlined in the Service Terms.
Should you rather opt to pay these fees yourself upfront, there will be no cancellation fees and only a 30 day cancellation notice required. Please contact us to discuss paying upfront should you prefer this route.
Our terms can be found on our website > Help > Legal > FTTH Service Terms

2.) The router offered is dependant on the line speed requested. The appropriate router will be a Cudy or Tenda branded router with a Courier Fee of R250.

I hope this assists in answering your questions and providing some clarity. Should you require more detailed information, our client excellence team is available via Call or WhatsApp to 0876 100 500
