Correct Sir, as long as it is completely covered. However if its a handgun, it might not be a smart idea to have it just loose in a backpack without a holster or with something that retains it.
I keep my handgun with one-up inside my pencil bag. Sometimes the pencils get stuck in the trigger guard, so frustrating! I just shake the bag until they force their way back out.

The retainer in that chest bag covers the trigger but I would be a lot more comfortable if that was a kydex retainer.

Do you have a bag like that?
No I do not, I personally don't like the idea of off body carry.

I would personally only do it whilst driving I suppose, and I agree I'll have to have a kydex holster affixed inside the bag, on an angle.

Does the firearm only have a trigger guard? You have a G19 right?

Issa joke, Hazy. My real gun I leave in my son’s room because he enjoys playing soldiers with it.
Lol was just checking Fox. Was at a lane range that I've never been to today in Benoni with my BIL, and saw some very concerning things. Perhaps some PTSD. My bad. It also just reaffirmed why I really dont like lane ranges.

I have a bag similar to that and I love it.
I get made fun of by kids and friends but it's way more comfortable for me to carry it in that bag. Its like carrying a largish moonbag/fanny pack but just across your chest.
I think i can draw quicker from the bag than from appendix carry.
I also carry 4 magazines additional so im ready for war.

Doesn't the Cross/chest bag make it too obvious that u are carrying a gun ?
Put a medic patch on the outside and it looks like a first aid kit, but no most people think its just a man bag of sorts. Modern day Indiana Jones 😜

Anyone found a holster for a g19 that's comfortable to carry sitting most of the day.
Appendix in a phlster is ok but started digging into me after a few day,
Hip and further back starts bumping into my chair and not super comfortable, ill be testing a few chairs around the office as well.

Thanks in advance

Pillow wedges is what you need Sir.

Here's a few examples that you can DIY, or search on Google for more "holster pillow wedges"

More questions..
Night sights are they worthwhile?

Had issues with the stock sights moving so need to get metal, considering getting night sights.as the same time
Any suggestions don't want to go broke but happy to buy something that will last.

I have Tritium sights. The gun it is on is almost 6 years with me, front sight is no longer glowing.

So all I am saying is be aware of that.

Isn't tritium the real deal?

New to all these things learning on the fly....
