Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

i dont think it was a sales pitch
i asked his advice
and that was his honest opinion
still leaning towards a 43x
but just wanted to make sure

Its my opinion that gun shops are a lot like bicycle shops...
They generally seem to have sales guys who dont know too much and just push you towards whatever they have the most of...

Do yourself a favour and thoroughly research all your options...
|Its going to be YOUR gun at the end of the day....
Remember its a 6-12 month mission to guy licenced etc so you dont want to be buying something you didnt really want...Or is a potential repair nightmare...

I have 2 x Glocks...Not worried about an external safety...
Keep your finger off the trigger and always use a decent holster covering the trigger...
Its strange at first...and holstering up and carrying will feel odd for a while....But you soon adapt!
(Actually I found the whole holster thing more exhausting that deciding between and buying the guns! One issue with Glock is there are loads of options for everything on that gun...holsters...sights....triggers....you can feel pretty swamped with choices...)

I‘m not a Glock fan at all, I’m a CZ guy. But that is the biggest load of k@k under the sun to not buy a Glock. My CZ has the safety removed and a decocker installed and I carry one up always, decocked. It’s about the holster you use, not if a gun has a safety (which the Glock has as its part of the trigger)

Ask him his opinion on revolvers - Also no external safety. :cool:

The drawer is slowly filling but these are the two I use daily...The bigger one carries well....Although I had El Paso make up some leather loops...much better than the plastic kak....Ive used this on 10hr shifts where you are standing and sitting and dragging and kneeling, reaching up and down etc...No hassles....I also took the slide version so both the G19 and G17 will fit..

The smaller holster has a Ulticlip and was cheap (about R400) and its perfect for when you are at home in rugby shorts, tracky pants etc....Dont need to wear a belt...

I also have a Ross leather holster...The cut isnt great on that in my opinion ut the leather is good....you hand jams against the holster before you can get a good grip...And an El Paso leather holster...its not too bad but the retention isnt great...I might change this a bit to a OWB holster for the range....

Oh ja...And a belly band...Have used this (with that holster with the Ulticlip) for running/cycling but its not the best idea...I dont carry when cycling now....If you are thinking of one of these try and borrow one before you lose R300/400....

I carry around the 3/4/5 o'clock positions depending on what I am doing work wise and how much I need to worry about concealment....

Im trying to find a holster that will work in the car though....And at some stage I want to try a Kore Belt...Right now I have a leather belt...Its OK and works but the buckle is a bit of a pain....

I got that 9mm slide version from Hailstorm....Be warned they are not cheap but I justified it as it fits both my guns, apparently you can replace the backing and you can also get replacement kydex sections...
I grew up with horses and saddlery so I will be looking after it properly!

I almost rolled with a Aliengear one (looks similar) but the backing apparently doesnt last long...

Im kinda hoping thats it holster wise now...

I have 2 of these . they are by far the most comfortable holster i have ever used, even with driving.

1 was from a local maker. I cannot for the life of me remember the name. The other came in a bundle deal. Ill check both for any maker markers and let you know.
 
Quick question:-
For attaching the safe to the wall - the guy at the safe shop said 4 * M10 rawl bolts are sufficient
Does that meet the requirements?

Thanks for the practical advice! This is what I'm really looking for here.

From back when I had it done, smallest size is M10x80mm and also washers that are 30mm wide and atleast 3mm thick.
