Chunky.
Compact better than FS. They are reliable. Spares not too terrible to get. I'm not a huge fan...it's thicker than it should be. But it works. It's as good as any modern comparable choice. If you like hammers and hammer drops and stuff like that, aside from CZ there's not a huge range of choices.
Just buy the G19 and be done with it.

Better how?

The PX4 FS is the same size as a G19x. Felt better in my hand than the G19x and G17, though have not shot one.

Bought the Rattler 2.0 on Monday and was delivered today. Was using the Daniel's Supertuck before but doesn't work with the new WML I bought, great holster though. The claw and wedge both work to aid in concealing. Will give some feedback in a few weeks on the Rattler.

Tits also feel good in your hand. Doesn't mean you want a tit when trying to defend your life.

What matters is being able to consistently hit what you are aiming at, and that comes with practice.

So get something with a good reputation, with good support (including spare parts), get training, and practice. Soon any firearm will feel like an extension of your hand.

Glocks are fairly ugly (I own a Glock 19). There are many better-looking handguns out there. Having said that, they are about as reliable as any handgun can be. For me, form follows function, which in turn makes the Glock one of the prettiest handguns.

Because of how licensing works, few people can afford to make a mistake in what they choose. If you choose a crap gun, it will take about a year to get a new license. That is why the default advice is to go for CZ or Glock. Both make excellent firearms, and both have excellent support and part availability in SA. Being mechanical devices, if used enough, something will break and need replacing. And having to wait 6 months for a spare part for your good-looking , is a terrible decision.

While waiting for my license, I could shoot at the shops indoor range. It helped with the fundamentals. After I got my license, I went for a couple of training courses. I joined SADPA (before all the drama), and took part in numerous club shoots. All of this helped me quite a bit. I don't claim to be a professional, but I would rate myself at least as being more proficient than most firearm owners that fire 500 rounds in 20 years.

I can only speak for myself but after a 100 or so rounds in one session it dawned on me that I really don't like the trigger safety on the glock. It started getting rather uncomfortable towards the end. Surely it will get better with more practice but simply is something I do not like, I'd rather have a TDA solution.

The other thing for me is I don't see Beretta as the 'inferior' choice compared Glock or CZ.
