Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

Roflllll ... there IS a full-auto version of the Glock, but it's not publicly for sale. The only Glock I know of with a burst mode is in CS:GO.

As for stopping power, it's all about where you aim, isn't it. I don't think anyone is just walking through 9mm bullets though.

for glock full auto the mericans only change one part if there state allow it

Was @ Safari & Outdoor over the weekend and they have plenty of Glock available incl 19 Gen 5.

Interesting, maybe it was just good timing. It might be they have demo units but none for sale?

I'm still trying to make up my mind on the 43X vs 19 ... are 5 bullets less worth a slimmer overall carry (which will benefit me every day)? The "rule of 3s" states that most shootings are over in 3 seconds and involve fewer than 3 shots ... but still. South Africa is messy.

IMHO Go for the slimmer version. I have the 19, would love something smaller, but I just don't have the energy for more admin. You can always get a Shield arms 15 round mag for it later.
 
Me at my first indoor range experience, "errm excuse me how do I load the bullets into the mag?".
But I do have enough common sense not to shoot myself or anyone else.

The kids didn't have the strength to load the mag either, so I had a very sore thumb afterwards.

If you prefer the 43X carry that much, just invest in a mag pouch and carry more than one magazine.

Well unless you put two 1000gr slugs in both their legs, they will continue towards you if you are what they are really after, unless off course you use what you have to actually disable the threat and not just punch holes in it.

Haha yes solid point ... but I started this process because of a premonition that I better get one. I trust my gut. Unfortunately my gut doesn't seem to be too specific on how many bullets I'll need.

May I come and haunt you, Bwana, if I get killed in a shoot-out where five more bullets in the gun would have saved me? :P

Way too big for EDC. Just find a place to hold it and you'll see that immediately. 19 MOS works if you've got a good holster for it. And a spare R8000 for a Trijicon RMR.

And don't get me started on holsters. All I want is a T-Rex Sidecar 2.0 ... and the cost of THAT and importing it *shudders*

Well yeah, some holsters (see above) have room for the gun and a spare mag, which is the ultimate ... but I realised I could just keep a spare mag in my pocket. Does one have to keep it in a pouch too, to avoid pocket lint from getting into the mag over time?

And remember most gun shops will give you 6 months to pay interest free.
