Which inverter to get

The inverter + battery setup I paid R4800 for last year November are going for closer to R6800 now, it's freaking ridonk, the hubbles I paid R5k for at the beginning of the year are now sitting at over 7.

My 3Kva Sako still in the box was R3600, cant get them for under R7K now.

Bloody nuts.

Yup those Ecco inverters I got were like R2 to R2.5k now they are like almost 4k now it's like wtf!! So glad I got my setup done in May, as it just went downhill from there and my house has been off for an hour here or there since.

Linky to an affordable lithium battery from a reputable store?
It has since gone up by R100 but still affordable.

What brand is that?

Yeah, I am trying to understand now what is going on. Are we gong to buy random no name branded lithium batteries "just because lead acid". That makes zero sense.

Kind of proof my point. There is still a place for Lead Acid.

Even Crap LFP > Lead acid

Instead of
3000-9000 (10-15 years) you get
2000-6000 (5-10 years)

Best Lead acid gonna give you 600-1000 if you lucky (2-3 years)

There is a place for Lead acid, that I dont deny: They great starter bateries for both home and car. Even I bought el cheap Lead acid's at 1st just to get rid of Load shedding but I also started saving up for LFP's cause I knew they would not last.

Talking about brand names, what exactly does that mean, because it says Enertec it's better because it has a name? Proper brand names lead acids are just as expensive as LFP, with the same flaws as any lead acid.

BBut really, each to their own.

Enertec is not bad.
I know, my trolley came with it and it served me well for a couple of years, loadshedding was not that bad and the 2400VA trolley still cost R4k back then.

Now with this loadshedding the quality of everything has gone down, Mecer inverters are blowing up Iike its going out of fashion and lead acids are failing prematurely.

I know R2500 sounds much better than R3500, but I believe someone who can put together R2500 can find an extra R1k somewhere, and I believe the sacrifice is worth it in every way imaginable.

You can take your chances with the lead acid and guard the system to make sure you switch it off at 50% DoD and even then hope the batteries last, that's how we all started but that is not the life I want someone who is buying a system in 2022 to live, it would really break my heart to see someone live like I used to in 2014, I had no options back then that are available today.

No amount of text can relay the joy I have not constantly needing to watch my system for that 50% anymore. Or needing to turn off when I leave so that I don't have unnecessary cycles.

LFP truly turned it into plug on and forget system.

He didn't even say watt hours???

700 watts, take it as he said it.

As others have said though you need an energy monitor and an idea of budget to limit your ambition, else it quickly turns into "just a TV, a few lights, the DStv box, my Xbox... A few more lights, the alarm, the door, the gate..the fridge. the intercom, the microwave occasionally... The pool pump, my bitcoin miner, next door..."

And always there are some low hanging energy fruit... LED lights, old fridges you don't need to be on etc...
I get that, but he might have implied 700 watt hour. Poeple often have no idea what they actually want and being a forum it is impossible to guess which one it is. It also makes no sense to ask for a system that can provide 700watt as a back up, it makes alot more logical sense to ask for 700 watt hour.

I'm starting to realise what mansplaining is :(
Someone asks for X, you say they got it wrong that they really wanted A... Although A in this situation is just 2 or 3 times X, and makes hardly any difference to what is wanted or needed... Then you say other people are being Illogical...

This thread reads like a meme about asking for advice on the internet already!
