Apparently these lead acid batteries last 4-6 months.

Then, what is a good lithium iron battery to get these days? And will it work with this system?

Those trolleys and modified inverters are also getting very expensive for no good reason, I was shocked when I learnt that the 2400VA is now over R3000. Consider a better inverter if you are planning on using it with lithium. The Axpert types are now affordable.

Have not had trouble with these units and they are quiet. Have been using them to build inverter trolleys. Yes they can be placed flat and not mounted to a wall. Do you have a battery box already?

Looks good (looks the same as the Kodak with bottom left display) but that unit is a bit pricey compared to others, R4000 more...
No I don't have a battery box yet, will need one if you have any suggestions? Getting the parts myself and will get someone to wire and assemble.

I could but the 24V 1500W+ models are similar in price, I figure I might as well spend a tad more. Also higher charging amps in the 24V's it seems.

I do have a cheaper version available also going for R7500 and still has a MPPT controller but doesn't have a removable display. I like the removable display on the RCT version, just add a longer cable and the screen can be mounted where ever.

The battery boxes I have here easily housed 2 X 100ah Revov batteries, So i doubt it will be a problem for your batteries. Drop me a PM I can work out something for you.

Ive got extension leads everywhere. All of them are noisy.

Otherwise I can highly recommend the Mecer 2400VA, but it is modified sine and has its issues. Love it. Read the first 4 posts.

My choices are between placing the fanless in the garage or building a special room to place a fanned inverter. The fanless is the cheaper option then.

Oh the 3.6kW fanless is almost the same price as 5kW fanless. Yes of course the 5 makes more sense then, but the 3.6 is already too much for the OP. My plan is to wait to see the new solar extortion taxes, and then go off-grid from the start, or leave SA permanently.
