Which is Easier to learn? PHP or ASP

Learn both ... its really not hard, once you get the basic concepts down any other lang should be
just as easy.

ASP is kind of dead, or are you referring to ASP.Net?

If you asking which is the easiest to code for I would go with ASP.net purely because of Visual Studio.

One language isn't easier than the other. Choose one and stick with it. Practice is what it makes it easier. Choose one that is relevant. Deciding which one is more relevant is the hard part, because many are. It depends what you want to do.

Okay, to summarise:
1. You ask a simple question, answer is A or B.
2. First response asks you another question.
3. 2nd response, he only tells you what he is doing, doesn't answer your question at all.
4. 3rd response, he says A and B.
5. Next one questions your question.
6. Next one says A or B.

Moral of the story: don't ask a sensible question on MYBB.

Or give better info next time you do.

His question is just a s good as me asking on a motor forum what is better a car or a bakkie with no added info :)

Accurate answer: Depends on what languages you already know as both are derivatives of certain schools of programming.

PHP is perl which is reminiscent of old C(Java,C++ to a lesser degree )
ASP is C#/VB.net

Other than that i can say this: Any language is easy when you have the basics memorized regarding OOP. Are you a windows or a linux dev?

I find pl/sql is the easiest language to learn. Mainly because I know it better than any other language :D

I don't know ASP.net and if it is easier but I would go with PHP, so that you can use LAMP or WAMP.

Can ASP.net development be done easily on Linux? Google reveals using something called mono. I hate platform dependency.

With learning ASP.NET you get the knowledge of C# which can be applied to WP7/XBOX/Silverlight/WPF/XNA development. You are basically killing a bunch of birds with one stone. Plus you can use Visual Studio with all it's fancy ASP.NET stuff.
But it does really come down to which you prefer, and if you don't mind running on the MS platform.

You may also want to look at MVC.

Seasoned developers will advise against both languages. Good entry level stuff but I'd say learn PHP but make sure you learn Python & Ruby as well.

PHP in inexperienced hands can be very dangerous and should be avoided unless you know what you are doing (preferably using good frameworks CodeIgniter, Zend, etc.)

I think I fall into that dangerous category then. What the hell are those? :wtf: lol

All I know about php is what they teach on things like w3schools and other similar websites :D or I get snippets of code from google that I need to apply to my needs.

We pay our php devs a fortune, you wanna be wanting some of that.

Once you have a base language like C then all code falls into place. You should stick with one language like php but it can get you into a lot of trouble if you make a mistake, but i guess that is for all code. Each to his own I say.
