I want to get a decent coffee machine for home. Realistically it'll be making about 10 cups per day.

Ive narrowed it down to new Jura E6 https://za.jura.com/en/homeproducts/Machines/E6-EU-15058/Specifications#tabs

or a 2018 demo Jura Impressa XS9 (in great nick) https://za.jura.com/en/professional/machines/IMPRESSA-XS9-Classic-EU-13664/Specifications#tabs

The Jura E6 is about 14k, but the demo XS 9 is going for 12.6k? Do I go for something brand new and smaller albeit bit more expensive or do I go with bigger, will probably be underused and cheaper?

Im not a serious coffee fundie so any help is very much appreciated.

The serious coffee fundis install machines upward of 30k into their kitchens (I think). My budget is 14k and I'd prefer an automatic machine rather than a manual.

The Phillips ^ is automatic and half the price.

Have an E6. It's a brilliant piece of kit. Coffee could be hotter though. The temperature is fine for me but if you like your coffee extra hot, probably look at a different brand.

Why specifically those when you can get Philips/Saeco machines for under R10k brand new?

EDIT: Example: https://www.takealot.com/philips-40...ncuP_YNhW2GzSkwmOPz8qZWkGe9vtQtAaAkpwEALw_wcB

We've got that (or very similar model) one at home and in my opinion it is still overkill for home coffee.

Jura is the legendary brand in Home Coffee machines so I can fully see why he would want that.

Generally one can assume that a company who only specializes in one thing would do it quite well.

JasonK I guess it would all come down to whether you take milk or not.

The XS9 has a bit more functionality in that regard.

Also something to consider if you do take milk is how that would fit into your home arrangement. If you aren't going to empty the milk container every day then is it easy to remove and put in the fridge etc.

I would imagine the coffee to taste identical between those two machines otherwise. Appear to use same mechanisms.

Of those two I'd get the XS9, cheaper with more functionality. Our Jura back in SA (E6 I believe) made 12 cups a day no problem for years. Regular cleaning and a service or two kept it in tip-top condition. They're built well and I'd have no issues going for a second hand/demo unit.

Get a load of this pleb recommending Philips in place of a Jura.

I see a solution. Hamster sells his overkill Philips to JasonK for less than retail. JasonK spends the savings on hookers and blow.

Everyone's happy.

OP I'm very very jelous, one day when I'm big I also want a Jura, not setling for anything less.
As for your question, much of a muchness in my opinion, all depends on your preferences, what features you want in a machine. Maybe also visit the Jura shop and have a play with both, they'll also be able to give you good advice.
From what I understand if you give a Jura its annual service it will give you a lifetime of awesome coffee.

We've got Jura's in our offices and they work hard and are excellent

You could also consider a smaller Jura Ena9. We have one and it just keeps working.

There are no better machines for home use than a Jura. Visit their showroom in Kya Sands if possible.

*Espresso machine. Please send me also one. I will test it for you. In return I will make sure your name is known among the Noble Vikings.

I get that, but I also get this:

It's an expensive mistake to make. But then he also said he'll be making 10 cups a day so if that is true maybe the shortlisted ones are more... robust.

^^this or https://www.takealot.com/delonghi-bean-to-cup-coffee-machine-esam4500/PLID17259111 and just get a few thermal glasses with the money saved over a Jura.

The Jura doesn't have a hot plate? Lol even my cheapo Delonghi has that. Also wash your glasses with hot water from the machine first.

Saeco also does only one thing - making coffee machines. Philips bought them.
