Which laptop is better?

OK x300 it is...
Will it be possible to upgrade the cpu, ram ,hdd, dvd writer later on?

CPU: maybe
RAM: yes(but you can only add more @ the same frequency)
HDD:yes
optical drive:yes.

Not necessarily, he'll be able to, for example, add DDR2-800 modules even if the motherboard only supports DDR2-667 as it'll automatically be downclocked to the supported speed. :)

But I take it that you meant that he cannot suddenly upgrade his RAM from DDR2-800 to DDR2-1066 if his motherboard only supports DDR2-800? :)

Who me?:D

Im surprised no one said anything about being able to buy a Desktop that's 3 times better at the same price..

All I can say is that its a dreamy piece of hardware and as soon as I saw it - I wanted one.

I'm leaving my desktop behind and when on my travels will be hoping to get a laptop in this league :D

Buy a desktop thats three time better at the same price :P Personally i'm not a fan of 17" laptops, i have a 15" and take it around a lot, and find it to be too heavy, looking to get a 13" next time.

Still both are good machines, I would say get a macbook pro at that price, but thats my personal opinion... if i had to choose, X300

We only say that if the person is looking for a gaming notebook, i mean if your on the road alot then laptop be the way to go :)

what price are you paying BTW, ddr 3 is more than likely going to be expensive.

Oh and im buying it for university next year.. I dont think a PC is recommended. Right?

if you going to mobile then no but if your going to use it in one place, you get way more bang for buck with a pc.
