Which movie needs a modern remake?

There's a new King Kong movie coming out, which feels like the 43rd reboot of the story.

Which movies do you think need a modern remake, and who should star in and direct them?
 
None.
Give us new stories.
(Satanboy might want Sound of Music though.)
 
I read Disney is doing a live action remake of Mulan. They should get John Woo to direct that.
 
How about Sad Sack ? That dude kills me with his stupidly and Sarge always on his case ! A movie called: Sad Sack vs Sarge starring : Jim Varney as " Sad Sack" and The Rock as " Sarge.

And looking forward to the second installment of the A-Team.
 
The new King Kong isn't a remake - it's a sequel to the last one. The story is being further expanded.

I actually enjoyed the '90's versions of Mortal Kombat - I must be one of the very few. But I wouldn't mind a good remake - there was a fan made trailer a few years back that looked pretty good.

I'm not really a big fan of remakes though - I don't know why they don't just expand the stories within those universes.

I would love to see more movies in these Universes....

1) The Princess Bride
2) The Neverending Story
3) Leon: The professional - when the girl is grown up.
4) Big Trouble in Little China - This one is already being remade - I hope they don't screw it up.
5) Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans - could maybe go for a third adventure.
6) Still waiting for a new Stargate movie.
7) and some more decent Terry Pratchett movies.

Another good Conan movie would be great, the Jason Momoa one was kinda Meh.
And I'd like to see someone have another go at John Carter and the Mars stories (although I thought Disney did a fair enough job).
I also hope they keep on with the Mad Max movies - the last one was great!
The Oz movies need more expansion - just please god - don't remake the Wizard of Oz - there are plenty of other Oz books!
And I'm still waiting for a decent Dungeons and Dragons movie...
And a sequel to the Adventures of Tintin
And the 1993 Hocus Pocus movie! Jeez, sorry - this list is getting long...
District 9 needs a sequel and the 1998 Dark City movie and a new Battlestar Galactica movie.
The Lost TV series always needed a nice Movie Sequel to end it off properly.
And I would absolutely die for a Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie.
And this one is kinda silly, but I would love to see a Live Action movie of the Kid's show LazyTown (Don't laugh at me - I'm a fan - hey it's better than being a Brony).

O, I guess it's time to end this post on that silly note.
 
Not a remake at all, but they need to start exploring the Dragonriders of Pern series of books by Anne McCaffery for movies. Could be a great mix of fantasy and scifi that could be done justice by todays technology

Also The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant could be done quite well now if you ask me.
