I have decided to buy a Nav app and I'm not sure which one: Tom Tom, Co Pilot, N Drive, Navigon or Garmap.

Please post your impressions/reviews before I fork out ~$50 bucks for an app.

Thanks.

Motion X GPS, only about a buck or two. Try their lite version for free first. I think its great. It does pretty much everything the expensive ones do

Hey man, have you actually used the motion x gps app?

I've also heard of one called "OffMaps" this one will cache the route before you leave.

The other problem with Tom Tom and the other "big names" is that they dl the entire map to your device (~1GB) and when the map is out of date you have to dl it again.

1GB is for the US maps. SA maps is only about 160MB.

What are the main differences between the two?

The Navigon used to have the best Point of Interest, but after the last Update the TomTom seems to be better. The TomTom has some lag though when tracking your location on the map, the Navigon tracks your position much faster and then it also has the better graphics. the TomTom gives you the options to choose your voice and language, but the latest Navigon update only has the standard voice and no text to speech conversion.

:)

Cool, thanx :)

Where can I put my face? :) Sorry folks :D

Although this discussion is relevant now that I may end up getting an iPhone on next upgrade if it doesn't suck for navigation.

Navigation totally rocks on the iPhone!!!!!! Just need a car charger 'coz it sucks battery ;)

Well, we'll see if it's available on my contract. I sense not but perhaps the 3G. I basically want a phone to play with that does good nav. And battery life gets munched by any gps phone. Has since I had the navigator.
