Which Navigation App are you using?

I am running Navigon on my iPhone 3G.

It is INSANELY slow. I believe it is faster on the 3GS - but it still sucks battery like you won't believe. If you need to use it for more than twice at 20-25 mins a shot (IE, there and back) it is going to die before the end of the day.

Given the option to do it all again, I'd definitely buy a different app.

In terms of routing, I have had to fudge the address of some really obvious places that my regular TomTom would've had no problem finding. That being said, it's taken me to places that regular Garmin car-nav drivers have said was impossible to find. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

You running iOS4 on your 3G? Navigon used to be fast with iOS3 but slowed down soooooooo much with iOS4 on my 3G. It flies on the iPhone 4 though :D

Hey man, have you actually used the motion x gps app?

Yes dude, been using it for several years now - it keeps getting better with their regular upgrades. I have it on 2 of my iPhones and also on my iPad - it does what I need, and for only a buck or two

Do you pay the monthly subscription? Is monthly better than once off?

Navigon - 9/10 Best Graphics (Sucks on iphone 3g) (Rocks on iphone 4)
Tom Tom 8/10 Better Graphics Than Garmap
Garmap 7/10 Best POI's Best GPS Reception
But dont forget Copilot Live. All round good one

As a matter of interest I'd be interested in finding out how the Google Maps Turn by Turn Voice navigation on Andriod compares. Any idea when that will be coming to the iPhone?

Are there any Android lurkers out there?

Had a Desire before I got the iPhone 4. The Google Maps navigation is actually not that bad. You just have to install a hack to allow it in South Africa.
Free and since its Google, you'll be able to find pretty much anything you're looking for. But since its text-to-voice there are some irritating things. It will say "Ave" instead of Avenue and "Doctor" instead of Dr (Drive). And the way it pronounces Afrikaans street names is... interesting ;) Also, the voice speaks too fast. Another drawback is that you need to use 3G to load maps. But you can set the route at home and it will cache the maps to your SD card.

All in all, considering that its FREE, it is a great GPS solution for Android

i would love to see youtube vids of each of these in action. Showing the good and the bad points

I downloaded MotionX Drive and I am impressed with it. It finds places in SA easily and the map looks good. However I can't seem to get it to navigate. It just can't find a route.

It shows me on the map and even if I choose a street one turn away and say navigate I get an error saying that it can not find a valid route.

Any help would be appreciated.
