I'm due for upgrade and cannot make a decision. Leading towards the Note 3 but have been an iPhone user for the past 4 years

Well... um...what do you want to do with it? Why are you leaning towards one more than the other?

The bigger display is really attracting me

It looks to me like you've already answered your question.

Saying that, I'd prefer the Note 3. It's massive, and has epic battery life. It's also Android - but I think I'm a bit biased towards that phone because of it :P

Wait for the 4.8" iPhone launching sometime later this year...

Whatever you do don't go Android!! Once you switch you will find it difficult to go back!! :p

Note 3 user checking in. The screen is magic, you get used to the size after the first week. No idea why people got for a 5S when the Note 3 is available.

Consider your current and potential future ecosystem. E.g. if you have any Apple-related products or are intending to get some, e.g. Apple TV or AirPlay enabled AV equipment, the seamless integration from an iPhone would be beneficial. Same for Android and related/compatible devices. If you're not intending on expanding the ecosystem with any particular products at the moment, it's really a matter of personal preference.

I have an 5S and my Wife has the Note 3, I like her phone for playing around with at home but it is huge and not that comfortable to talk on.

I reach for her phone when I want to do something on the web quick but for my daily use the Iphone suits me better, much smaller to carry around and use at work.

Speaking from experience - a bigger display doesn't necessarily result in a better experience wrt every day use and general handling of the device. For me at least.

I must be honest both are awesome, but working on a iphone after working on a Note 3 feels like you are working on a midget phone.

This... note 3 is amazing but I don't want to lug it around for everyday use Iphone is better for me personally.

It really depends what you're going to be doing with it mostly. If it's for listening to music, gymming, photography, messaging people and that sort of thing, then 5s is much better. It's faster, has a nicer (lower res but otherwise far superior) screen, better camera, better music player. If you're like...reading books, doing surfy-internet-y type things, using it as a semi-tablet, then the Note is really the one to get.

There is an iPhone 4.8" coming out?! Apple should just cover themselves and bring out 3", 4", 5", 6" etc phones. That way nobody can say they don't have a million options when it comes to iDevices.. :wtf:

Well, they actually have very few options. They simply don't currently compete in the large screened smartphone market currently and that's a big problem for them...

I think it's less of a problem than the fact that nobody else competes in the small-high-end smartphone space at all. But my best guess is, the next iPhone models will include a larger screen variant. There really isn't a good reason for them not to take a portfolio approach to the iPhone as with all their other devices.

I echo these sentiments.

To me that is like having the option of buying a Porsche but settling on a tried and trust Citigolf because it's what's you've been driving all these years.

Note 3. No contest.

People should go to a store and try one out. That's what i did before I got mine. Made sure it fitted comfortable into my jeans pocket, my jacket pocket and even my old car dock. I couldn't be happier.

There is a big difference between phone sizes. I personally prefer android, you should go instore and play around abit with both and decide which one you like better. We could list specs and tell you all sorts of things but until you actually play around with both you won't know. My mom went to vodacom set on getting the lg G2 and ended up getting the iphone 5s just becuase she preferred the feel and use of it. Experience the phone and then decide.
