which one? ps3, wii or xbox360

I will and I will then laugh at you paying twice the amount for old hardware while I sit with the latest updated hardware for half the price plus still having my 360 with it's more advanced online multiplayer system....

The 360 is going nowhere but that is no reason for me to own multiple consoles. I am getting the Wii when it comes out as well...

Right now though the 360 trounces the PS3 and that really cannot be disputed.

Poor Sega saturn lol!!
Sony wont make the same mistakes, Sony owns alot of the ancilary companies like Eidos and EA, the developers have to go with Sony!

The 3rd generation PS will keep up to all the hype, regardless of price. Sony knows this, EA wants it to!

Sony doesnt own EA or Eidos. In fact games that were only for playstation are moving over to xbox360 cause of its large install base. the 360 has over 10 million units in home and ps3 has like 1.5 million and the ps3 wont be moving units with that price tag in south africa

Lol as always!:D
The thing is I always get it right, so remember me in 2 years when you paying for a PS3!;)

I'd be really rude, but a. I'd get my post deleted and b. I don't think you'd get it anyway.

JK8, you're wrong and need to check your facts. Sony's 3rd party support this time round is downright pathetic. And that list of yours is balony, for one Alan Wake has been announced as PC and 360 exclusive.

The PS3 install base is barely a tenth of the 360. 3rd parties are bailing off PS3 and heading to the good ships Wii and 360 in their droves! Fact, they're already having to bundle games with the PS3 for it to move stock, it's sitting on shelves, no-one wants it. For all the hoo har it's nothing interesting and definitely not as powerful as Sony claim (They did the same thing with Ps2). It's basically a trojan horse for Blu-Ray, and thanks, but I'd rather get my Hi-Def movies via direct download on a 360.

Back to the initial question. I'd say it's more a question of which to get first. Wii is fun and accessible, but 360 is an elegant powerhouse and has the most awesome games library of the lot as well as killer online play. There are good reasons to have both, and both negate all need for a PS3.

Ooh, I wonder why... Maybe because the PS3 was just released and the 360 has been out for more than a year already???

And can you remember the games that was available for the 360 when it was released? Not that impressive at all.

I'll probably never buy a PS3 or a Xbox360, but I think the PS3 will begin to catch up to the 360 in a year or so.

As for my choice...

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ;)

Are you writing of the PS3 completely?

Everyone likes to bring the launch titles of the 360 into this equation but it doesn't make any sense...

If someone is looking at buying one now then the games available now and in the immediate future are whats important. The 3630 wins currently.

Yes they have a smaller install base since they only launched recently, the big problem however is that there is spare stock on shelves which is not moving. That is sending huge messages to the developers. It is still not possible to walk into a shop in the US and pick up a Wii even though they ship twice the amount to the US every month than the PS3.

The PS3 is not moving because it is overpriced and has no games. There is no logical reason to buy one now.

Ah but there is (sorta anyway)
Check out eBay PS3 prices, they going for below cost, 60GB's going for $550, since there most certainly isn't gonna be a price drop in the near future and I'm guess prices will go back to at least $600 when Europe gets launched, I'd say there's no better time to pick up a cheap Blu-Ray player :p

furnic, this forum is very 360 biased, but frankly speaking for good reason, in SA there are no alternatives and indeed the 360 has the best selection of games, however I own a Wii and its more fun than any console I've ever had before (I don't own a 360 or PS3, yet)

If you can afford it, right now the best thing to do would be to get a local 360 now and a Wii when (if) they launched in SA (or eBay it ;))

PS3 has a chance, but Sony really do keep f-ing up (this coming from a guy who owns a PS1/PS2/PSP, and will probably get a PS3 anyway.

Its a sad day indeed when Sony's power house gaming machine is being purchased solely as a Blu-Ray player....

Are they seriously going for less than cost? That can't be a good sign...

If I wanted a Blu-Ray player then maybe I would look at one more seriously, except I still need my HDTV and then possibly some Blu-Ray movies for rent in SA?

Otherwise it's a very expensive paper weight.

There's the other thing, Blu-rays are region coded, so only US Blu-rays for those PS3's (albeit SA aint gonna be getting Blu-rays anytime soon anyway)

And yip, they are closing below cost, not a good sign indeed. As it stands, Sony simply just aren't competing in this "war", maybe if they had games like Lai, Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy and Burnout ready for launch it would be a different story, but they didn't and still don't
It's scary that after nearly 3 months they are yet to release a system seller, not even one, Resistance don't count cause its completely negated by GoW.

I'm being harsh, but I like Sony, and they are really disappointing me with the PS3.

SK will be selling Blu-Rays from April possibly March.

I don't think it's that bad that they don't have a system seller yet. It took the 360 quite a while.

HOWEVER having only released 1 game since launch is unacceptable. Sonic as well...

Shocking.

I have faith in PS3 the will come out on top!

i thought the topic suggested which console to buy NOW

in which case i would say both the 360 and the WII, because both rock and have nice games... the ps3 however?? well nothing good for now

so sure jk8, buy your ps3 :P i would personally prefer a ps2, more games, and BETTER games as well.

And they work on the PS3:rolleyes:
It was a afrikaans point boo hoo.

Fact is its a Playstation. Marketing is there games will be there everything will work out in the end.
Besides I wont support Microsoft.:D

Other than those who worship Sony I can't see any reason why anyone would bother buying a PS3 now. It first has to overcome the game catalogue and price advantage held by the XBox 360. It's possible Nintendo might even beat Sony this round.

The previous generation demonstrates that specifications and performance aren't everything. The PS2 was the first out and has a huge catalogue of games, but it has the weakest hardware.

Nintendo Wii released a week later (or before) the PS3. It has currently outsold them 3.5:1

So far Nintendo is smacking the cr@p out of Sony :D

If that's the way you want to argue, then almost all previous console's wins over the Xbox360. Nes, SNES, Megadrive, PS2 etc. I don't have specific numbers, but I'm sure they all sold more consoles than the 360 over these years and they all have A LOT more games than the 360.

Are you writing of the PS3 completely?

That would be silly, never underestimate the power of stupidity and heresay.

For me I will never have need to purchase a PS3, I have a 360 and will probably pick up a Wii in future as well, the PS3 offers me nothing and won't have better of already.

Blu-Ray? Even HD-DVD are pretty much stillborn in my mind, which is why the external drive for the 360 makes more sense. Downloadable HD content is the future and the 360 already offers it.

Fact is its a Playstation. Marketing is there games will be there everything will work out in the end.

Bwahahahhahaa!!!! You won't support the company that provides the most empowering commercial development platform in the world, but you'll support a Monopolistic Evil empire like Sony that has only ever brought us DRM lock-in, proprietary formats and exploding batteries!
