Which OS do you prefer?

Yeah I think Linux is too much for regular PC users.
Quite surprised to see Mac having such a huge amount of users - but then I suppose this is a US poll?

I reckon SA will have big majority of Windows users

Windows is like a local girl in alabama... Easy to ride, easy to get the hang of, and does get the job done... But it just doesn't feel right.

I heard you can't dual boot with XP and Vista?
Perhaps if you install them to different partitions, that should work....

It is on different partitions. Fisrt install XP on Partition "A". While XP is open install Vista. Select partition "B". It will automatically create the grubloader for you to choose at startup.

Ah.. thought something like that sould work. Thanks for confirming it. :)
As far as I know there is nothing in Vista that I cant do with my Ubuntu/XP combo. :D
Besides, any .Net 3.0 program i write will work in vista as well... No need to spend valuable $$$ on vista.
(GO LEGAL OR OPEN SOURCE!! :))

OSX and Linux is 50/50 for me, both have features that make my everyday computing experience worthwhile.

Vista is only good for one thing and that is games.

Well, our work laptops are going in to be Vista-lized. Then I'll see if Vista really does run games better than XP. I'll use the new Red-Alert for a Test Run.

P.S. Is the new Red-Alert worth the DVD it's written on? I've seen some bad branded games these days... and I don't wanna waste that cash.

I like Gentoo (Linux) and AIX (IBM Unix) even though they are both not for end users or people new to Linux. Last time installed Gentoo there was no installer, it was a manual compile and configure.

OS X 55117 (43.8%)
Windows 50487 (40.2%)
Linux 20140 (16.0%) <--me

Seems to me a lot of Mac users voted there... because M$ has a larger supporter base than Mac...

Feels right and works right for me! There's my vote! :)

Yes, Linux takes about a month to get used to... but once you get the hang of it, everything else feels like a downgrade. Like getting used to a manual-grearbox on a car when you grew up with automatic.

And keep in mind... horses for courses! :D
Thats why I have XP AND Ubuntu. (If Visual Studio could work in Linux... i'd be :D)
