Which puffer jacket?

Ive never owned one and there are so many options.I have these questions:

1. Duck down or synthetic?
2. Which brand that has the best quality\price option?K-way,Columbia,North Face,First Ascent etc

Sure i could google or chatgpt this one but im looking for actual personal opinions from people who have had puffers...
 
I've found duck down to be warmer than synthetic, but also keep in mind that there are levels of fill which affect both warmth and price. Synthetics are generally easier to launder than duck down.
I've only bought K-Way (on special) puffers so I can't comment on the other brands, but I'm very happy with them.

I personally have a down K-Way one as well. It is a nice jacket - lightweight and regulates temperature much better than many others.

I should mention that the one I have:
- isn't super waterproof
- isn't super camp-proof (despite many people wearing them when camping - or perhaps glamping)

I've seen my brother-in law accidentally poke a hole in his with an old braai grill. He was able to repair it with needle-and-thread and stuffing the down feathers back in. He has a cheaper Woolworths one to actually wear day-to-day while camping (which you can see has many many repairs done). I would for example be careful hiking through an area with a lot of trees / branches in the way.
 
I have a north face jacket. way warmer and much more sturdy than K-way. K-way jacket drops feathers everywhere and when you take it off your sweater is full of feathers
 
Down is nice but synthetic insulation has come so far that it’s nearly on par with it.
Just try on a few and find one that fits the best, many shops are starting to mark down their winter stock so deals are incoming.
 
I have down and synthetic, both area great find the down more breathable so works better in medium and cold weather.

Keep your eye our for specials, winter is almost over should be able to find a good deal in august / sep.

I hate duck down. It is super light. But the feathers are still feathers and I can feel it. They poke. I have one of the most expensive ones from Cape Union Mart. They tiny things but they are still feathers. I wish I took the synthetic one.
