Why are you guys trying an exercise in futility?

Just copy the Pastel companies to a flash drive, grab a new hard drive, install XP again, install Pastel (phone Pastel and get new code from them) and copy the companies back. It's easy.

My biggest challenge was to copy a lot of companies back to a new Evolution database, but it worked just fine. Hectic.

Oops. Just can't understand that they didn't make any backups. Just crazy and totally irresponsible.

All that was needed was an external hard drive and a small program, like Microsoft Sync, to copy the companies to the external drive every day before they go home.

We did have backups, made every Friday.
A new installation just would have been taken too much time.

But I fixed the problem thanks to a little thing like Wininternals ERD (Emergency Recovery Disk - My precious!!!). Funny thing is when I launched it in the faulty PC it didn't pick up any valid OS. I then took out the HD, hooked it up to a working PC, and launch the ERD again. This time it worked and I used the restore utility of the ERD to set it to a previous date. Voila!
