combination should I get?

I am specifically looking at a choice between the Netgear DM111P modem (R290) + Netgear WGR614 wireless access point (R330) and the Netgear DG834G adsl modem and wireless access point (R570).
The separate option affords me a cheaper fix in the event of surged modem, while the 2-in-1 is neater and more compact.

Your thoughts?
Or suggestions on other combinations?

I would go for the split option then at least u can spread your wireless connection you are not bound down to a certain area and if u really good friends with ur neighbour then u guys can share an internet connection and he can help you pay the bills....now is that not a great idea

Personally I went with the 2 in 1 option - a Billion 7300G. It has already been damaged by lightning once but can be repaired for ~R300. Very stable and reliable but I no longer leave it switched on especially when lightning is around.

The obvious choice is the Linksys WRT54GL. Built to last, and installed with DD-WRT firmware, you get a router/linux box with capabilities that trounce anything in its class.

As a bonus, using the Linksys script, you get Multi ISP International/Local traffic splitting at router level that will optimize the internet experience over your entire network and save you oodles of cash. RouteSentry without the sweat.

Just plug in a cheap ADSL modem (ie Billion 5200S) in bridged mode and you're up and away.

Where can you get the DM111P that cheap?

I'm in the same boat - already got the Linksys WRT54GL but need a modem.
