Which screen to choose (pretty specific)

2999 for an acer 22"

they sell for 1899.00 ex vat at axiz

what a rip considering they buy direct from acer

That's like R2200 incl VAT

Seems monitor pricing is pretty awful at IC then.

I might do better selling my 20" and making up the difference with cash but not buying from IC at all...

From my experience the viewing angles on Acer LCD's are pretty bad. It would be best for you to actually go to a shop where it's on display and see if it would fit your requirements. Aside from that I've had a 19" Acer for 2 years now and aside from slight backlight bleeding and the viewing angles I'm very happy with it.

Indeed. I am going to Corruption on Monday to have a more detailed look at each one. I just don't want to have to ask the IC staff anything because they seem generally clueless.

So far I am leaning towards the Samsung as I have only heard positive things about it (only the price at IC seems to be about the most expensive in the country :()

Price drew me to the Lenovo at first, as well as the brand's general good name at the moment. I see it only has a contrast ratio of 700:1 so I'd have to see what that was like in real life as well.

The prospect of the 24" Acer is also tempting. It would mean not having to upgrade again for a long long time. And it is not much more than the Samsung 22" (at IC anyway...)

@ hj2k_x: You're getting the screen with vouchers, right?

Why not try and sell the vouchers, then buy the Samsung (or another screen) elsewhere? :)

Also, if you sold your 20" for R1500, you'd only need about R700 more to get it from somewhere else.

Ya, the thought had crossed my mind. Just thought it might be too much mission. I will be selling my 20" LG at the same time you see. And I'd have to sell the vouchers for quite a bit less than they are worth I am sure...

Go for the Samsung. Acer LCD's are crappy, I've seens a couple now that starts flickering after a month or two

Back from IC. Checked out all the monitors quite thoroughly.

I was impressed with the look of the Lenovo- surprising at that price. For me, the Samsung 226BW looked amazing. Great quality of both screen and looks-wise. The more expensive Samsung didn't really do it for me in real life. Did not love the design all that much, and it's R300 more expensive.

The PB was not bad. Also looked at the 24" ones which I concluded were a bit big, and too much money.

Pith that the Lenovo was grey- I loved the fact that the Samsung was sleek black with blue lights.

Think that is what I am going to get :)

Hi Mate

I just picked up my Samsung 22". Just get it. It is really fantastic. And to think that I actually considered getting me a Fujitsu Siemens LCD !!!!

Ivan's post did it for me ... :) check it out here .... http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=109132

I bought the 2232gw this weekend. Was on holiday in Dbn and paid R2499 from PC Zone in Ballito (thanks Ash). Looks gorgeous even when it is switched off.

Got PC Connected to DVI and XBox to VGA. Absolutely Stunning

R2499? Jees. IC seem to have some of the worst prices on monitors ever.

yes. I got the 2232gw. Man this thing is work of art. Beautiful when switched on and off.

I was really skeptical about the gloss screen ... but now I see that when the monitor is on you dont even notice that it is gloss and I must admit that to me the picture is better than my matt 17". Seems more vivid.

The stand however leaves a lot to be desired. THey should have devised a better stand.

What I like about the monitor is the buttons below. Unlike the LG that I use at work - it is easy to switch between the preset modes and those modes suit my eyes nicely. I like the games and text mode.

I must just remind the cleaner not to go near my baby ...

Loving this monitor.
