Which type of Network cable should I use?

So, I finally got ADSL, but my nearest phone point is about 20m away on the other side of the house.

So...
I have an ADSL modem (4 port ethernet) at the phone point.
I've got about 60m of CAT 5e cable, and a router next to my PC.
I'm gonna cut the CAT cable to the length I need, and connect the one end to the Modem and the other to the Router.

I just have a few questions:
1. Should the cable from the ADSL modem to router be a straight cable, or a crossover cable?
2. Should the cable be connected to the WAN port on the router, or just in the switch?

Thanks in advance :)

Doesn't matter. Almost all modern switches and routers are auto-sensing.

Yes. So it will be modem -> Cat5e -> WAN port on router. Is it a single Ethernet port modem, or does it have a built in switch as well?
