I was given a genuine Win 7 Pro license sticker (not yet used), but it gives no details.
(BTW, it can still be used, found that much out already on the M$ forum.)

For a standard PC (not Apple etc.) I need to know;

1. If I must definitely only find and download the 32 bit or 64 bit version, or will it work for either.
2. If it is a stand-alone, or can only be used to upgrade (from XP etc.)

So how do I find that out? It was given to me over 6 years ago, can't get back to the source for details.

Is there perhaps a M$ webpage that can securely analyze the product activation code to derive that info? (Not prepared to post it.)

Thanks a ton if you can help! :-)

And for further interest, later got this at the M$ forum... :rolleyes:

"There is no public list of product keys kept saying what type of license they are for.
Install it is the way to find out.
"

This next reply was a bit more helpful;

"A lot of people gave out Volume License keys, too; which are not for private use,
OEM System Builders licenses don't do upgrades; only clean installs.

So you have trial and error to find out.
