Work laptop with:

Intel Celeron B800 1.5GHz
2GB RAM

Windows 7 32bit or 64
Windows 8 32 or 64

I've legit copies of all.

Windows 8.1 32bit. It is slightly less demanding than Windows 7. (They both have the same minimum specs required.)
What specific versions of windows do you have?

Windows 10 32bit, I kid you not it is much much more lightweight than 7 or 8. Just hang in there for a few more days or install v10240 (you can find it on the net somewhere)

Yeah, but you still need to install w8.1 32bit and then upgrade from that for a free upgrade.

Can't you do vanilla 10 the activate with 8 key?

I've gone vanilla win 10 with the insider program- that's still available as far as I can see, if you get the registry hack to force the update...

I'd go win 10 :)

Reckon I will go for the Win 7 seeing as it hasnt been mentioned yet

That ****s everything up.

Reason is that Windows 8.1 is going to be a major learning curve for this certain colleague and I've done Windows 8 vs Windows 7 formats and installs before and I'm as of yet undecided because the difference are so small.

Let me tell you this however, If a majority recommends windows 8 ... it would mean that I wouldn't have to search for and download so many mobo and audio and graphics drivers.

:)

Seriously though ... I would go 7 over 8 everytime personally.

Theres a reason that MS worked on Win10.

this.

I used to be a 'newer is better' OS guy but Windows 8 burned me and windows 8.1 poured lemon on it. Wish i hadn't changed from Win7 I just seriously dislike the UI direction windows is going in.

The entire design is big buttons and slide in windows which hide settings and are just dumb to navigate with a keyboard and mouse

great OS for tablets though

Always fan of windows 7 so i would go with that.
Got Win 8.1 on my work laptop and being using it for 5 months. I dislike it a lot. Try install a unsigned driver... loooooooool.

The stupid screen switching and all that doesn't work on desktops, touch screens yes its great.

Sell me win 7 if u not going to use it.
Cant get win 8 loaded onto hp n54l despite downloading latest bios.

Thanks

If you're never getting 4GB of RAM, Windows 8.1 32-bit. Its much lighter on system resources.

Once its out, move to Windows 10 32-bit. Its even better.
