8.1 is nonsense that works for tablets but not pc's

W8.1 is not terrible, just install Start8 and then it is nearly the same, better in most ways actually (in the speed and system resources requirements).

The reason is also that in about a week you can just upgrade it to windows 10, so rather get used to the ribbon style.

I've legit copies of all.

Windows 8 32bit. 64bit runs better if you have 4gb or more. Upgrade to 8.1 after installing will enable you to get Windows 10 for free on 29 /7.

I used it once or twice just to test if it works in Windows 8 and Windows 10. Installed everything else the old fashioned way.

if it was mine i would put win 8.1 32bit like some of the other peeps replied just because its less demanding than 7. Win 8 takes some time getting use to it with the tiles page.
