Which Wisp uses the same equipment as Wireless SA / Helderberg Wireless?

Since the demise of Wireless SA I've been left with all the equipment but nobody to link to. I don't wish to go with Helderberg Wireless, who installed the equipment for Wireless SA, as they don't offer an Uncapped product plus I don't trust them.

So who uses the same equipment? I've spoke to Uninet and they tell me I'd have to pay for a new installation as they don't use the same "software".

I'm in the Blomtuin (Bellville) area with a clear view of the hills.

I'd appreciate any advice or a link to a similar thread that I may have missed.

not a hijack but im close to signing up with helderberg wireless . . . tell me can one use a games console on your antenna and play online decently ?
 
Thank you Warwick for the shameless plug of your own company but I don't think Bellville is covered.

Craig, HWS has a lot latency and therefore you'll be dead before you know what hit you (if you playing an online shoot 'em up).

Now back to the actual question. Any suggestions for providers in the BELLVILLE area.

Highly doubt that warwickw owns/works for Gbay.co.za - multiple reasons. He just saw "Helderberg Wireless" (Strand,Gordons Bay,Somerset West) and Gbay popped into his head imo.

And no, I do not work for them either. I just hail from Gordons bay...

Why do you say I work or own GBAY Internet ? :confused: Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have any interests in them. I do however have a rock solid and stable connection to them for my own personal use.

Maybe you would like to retract your statement. :sick:

As for my response it was based on the fact the CraigViking asked who he can connect to in the Helderberg Area, and hence my answer punting a good provider in the area.
 
If I was mistaken then I retract it. As a warwick w***-*** is the registrar and technical contact of the domain gbay.co.za I foolishly assumed it was the same warwickw.

Apologies for the snap at Craig. I get a little miffed when posts go off the thread subject.

No problem. :D I did assist them in sorting out a domain and web hosting issue awhile ago for them, hence me being listed as Technical contact on their domain, but I am a customer of theirs and have no interests in their business, oops besides being interested in ensuring they keep giving me bandwidth on demand that is ;)

I have some wireless and networking skills, so I assist ISP's and WISPS where I can.

But we digress, in the Bellville area I recommend you speak to Wireless Online. http://www.wirelessonline.co.za/

I am now with WO. They were able to use my old antenna, that was a relief. Charged me R500+Vat for the conversion and I was connected immediately. Initially I started on their @Home package. Far too slow for what I needed so I upgraded to the @Work package. This would be ok for just surfing and downloading but upload seems to be a problem. FTP and SMTP is a bit like watching paint dry. I have to say that I don't use their SMTP and I'm FTPing to the UK, but sometimes I have had to swap to connecting through my cell phone to be able to send a file quicker. :mad:

There seems to very little benefit to having an uncapped service as even if I constantly downloaded for the whole month I would probably not go over 7GB anyway. And by then my nerves would be shot from frustration and impatience. :confused:

So now I'm going to swap to 1mb x 5GB packjage which I hope will fulfill my requirements. :)

First of all, I don't work for Helderberg Wireless or Gordon's Bay Security, but I do know Warwick and I can tell you that unlike the oke who owns GBSEC, Warwick doesn't live in a palace up on the side of the mountain in Gordon's Bay and Warwick also doesn't cruise around Helderberg in a Porsche with GBSEC on the number plates.

Avoid Helderberg Wireless Solutions.

Jivan, can you see Helderberg outside of Somerset West, or can you only see the Durbanville hills?
 
I have a great view of the Hottentots-Holland mountains.

Does CTWUG supply internet connectivity outside of their network? i.e. to sites like this, cnn, facebook etc?
