how many people actually give out charity?
Is this done monthly, yearly etc
How do you calculate how much you giving?
What type of charitys would you give to?
And do you think south africans are charitable?

Salvation Army
SPCA

I will never donate to Hospice ever again in my life.

Start at home always, see that your family is not in distress.

Everywhere you look today are poor people.
Ask God for guidance, first!

NGO NPO's for underprivileged kids, specifically towards their education.

Every month my salary supports on average 3 south african families = monthly paye, I thank you , my bit is done!

These days its hard to know who to give for. I always like to help people in need, just have a look around you, there's a lot. I must say, Jacarandafm's Good Morning Angels do good work, I never felt that they help people not in need, so they are a good bet too. They have a account in which you can deposit money.

Honestly,

I give to no charities other than myself.

Charity starts at home and I make sure I am looked after and that there are investments to keep me going in my retirement. After all that, theres nothing left so sorry for the charities.

in islam a part of the religion is giving out a compulsory charity of minimum 2.5% of your assets yearly,
Most muslims normally give more than this.
imagine if each south african did this?

Last time I checked my marginal tax rate was quite substantially above 2.5%, considering how little ROI those of us that pay tax actually get for it it may as well be charity. Imagine if this money was actually used for something productive?

this 2.5% is for any muslim staying anywhere in the world,
The South African tax paying muslim still needs to give this 2:5% after paying his normal taxes.

I have plenty idea's of what i want to do :) Hopefully it won't be long before i can.

I donate my SARS tax return each year (if it's over or around a certain amount) to children's homes

I don't see why dogs/cats (SPCA) should get money when there's thousands of kids that have no place to sleep/eat

The reason dogs/cats need money is because the vast majority of people probably feel the same way that you do. Someone should look after animals (and humans should stop f-ing like bunny-rabbits) ;)

I pay between 5k-7k in tax per month - most of which goes to subsidising the poor and their vast host of children. Does this count as charity or worthwhile?

Oh, and I've bought a ward of horribly injured children at Red Cross Children's Hospital some sweets. That was a brutal experience that haunted me for a while since a lot of them were burn victims.

The Paul Jan Nickel Charity ( I don't know the proper spelling) home, I use to donate my old clothes blankets and toys also the blind school in Silverton as well from time to time, I got a soft spot for disabled people or those who cannot help themselves.
and on Christmas the Salvation army.
We also have this family tradition started by my mother about 22 years ago, she usually goes to the garages on Christmas/new years and cook them dinner or bake them lots of cookies/koeksisters.
