What. I love itSo opened one these the other day and can't say I was overly impressed with it. It isn't bad but wouldn't pay the price they generally go for here.
And yes the cork did break, as gentle as I was. Luckily had a spare buffalo cork I could use.

Longrow, Port Charlotte, Smokehead High Voltage/Rum RebelI'm turning to you knowledgeable folks again for help. I'm looking for recommendations on Peat at the 1k-1.5k price point.
I'm currently eyeing the John Paul Peated just because I haven't had it before and it is cask strength.

Paul John Select Cask Classic
The Select Cask Classic is an unpeated single malt taken from "select casks" in small batches and bottled at cask strength. Non-chillfiltered and bottled at cask strength of 55.2%. Nose: Fruity, malty aromas with honey and a hint of bourbon with vanilla and banana. Palate: Malted barley with a...www.whiskybrother.com
Open to anything else, I usually just get any Ardbeg as that's what I know but always keen to broaden my horizons.

this looks nice and at a much higher ABV. This is top of the list currently!!You're spoilt for choice there. If you're looking at the Paul John then I'd suggest Amrut. Amrut is so much better than PJ and the peated cask strength is exceptional.

Amrut Cask Strength Peated
A peated, cask strength whisky from Amrut. Distilled from Scottish peated barley with peat levels of 23 ppm.wildaboutwhisky.com
That deal on Smokehead High Voltage that @dualmeister just posted is an excellent deal. It is bottled at 58%, a bit young, high on peat, so it delivers a punch that will knock your socks off. I absolutely love this bottling, it has an overwhelming nuttiness to it.I'm turning to you knowledgeable folks again for help. I'm looking for recommendations on Peat at the 1k-1.5k price point.

I bought one thanks. I'll get the Amrut next week. Went bit over the budget but that's okThat deal on Smokehead High Voltage that @dualmeister just posted is an excellent deal. I think at that pricepoint it is not a bad deal for a cast strenght Islay, although it is a bit young. If you decide to buy it, please share your thoughts on it, like I said, I really love this bottling

The High Voltage is great and ABV is awesome, but I prefer the Rum Rebel. Finally tried it over the weekend. That deal on Smokehead High Voltage that @dualmeister just posted is an excellent deal. Best to get an idea of what type of Whisk(e)y he likes.I know very little about Whisky. Once sipped some Whisky as a teen from my fathers cabinet and it tasted foul and I never drank it since.
Anyway, guy I know is his birthday today and said he likes Whisky, I have a Makro near me, what can I get him, I'll spend up to R1 or R1.5K.
Suggestions for a 60th present.
