Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

My wife picked up an old ‘Classic Malts of Scotland’ promotional thing for R50 from a charity shop and we started getting the whiskies to fill the spaces. We had to get the Cragganmore and Glenkinchie from overseas, and today had the Glenkinchie delivered from UK to complete it. Sadly it’s the 12 year old as the 10 is no longer made but looks pretty good lined up with the others I reckon.

I am opening an old Glenkinchie 10 on Sunday to pour some tasting sets........

I am sure someone on this group might have an 'old' label Talisker 10 to swap out with you? I can check my stock and see if I have one.

You could have them all locally. Pm if you're interested in these, I know where they are.

Haven’t had whisky in ages. Taste buds were itching when I saw some JW Black for 280 at Pick n Pay. Having beer now to get into the mood. Will sip on some later in the evening.

So I’m a bit lit at the local bar and wanna try stuff. Got a single Bains, MaCallan 12 and Aarberg 10 lined up. Never had these whiskies and I wanna try em.

Still haven't tried An Oa, got a fresh BBQ Smoker waiting to be cracked . Am a fan of the others in the range, so looking forward to it
I am not sure how to set it up for you. Nevermind tasting notes, but be ready to be abused. It cannot be described as an easy drinking sipping whiskey. There is just something “rude” to the An Oa that isn’t matched by the corry or uigeadial, the ten being the least prominent. Maybe it’s because it was my first.

Ps: after you had your dram, leave your glass to dry out and go back after 5 or 10mins for a whiff. Runaway veld fire is an understatement.

Ardbeg An Oa was my first, I’ve been addicted ever since.
Just before the first "lockdown" I got a bottle of 10yo Ardbeg to celebrate our 10 year Anniversary. My wife does not drink, but somehow she was asking for the old leather couch ocean funk each night.

Then the ban lifted and....
