Latest addition to the family. I still prefer my brandy but we'll see.

So far nothing I've had has unseated the Van Rhyn 20 YO as the house favourite

Meh Macallan is very average and almost all Macallan's taste extremely similar.

Van ryns 20 isn't the best Brandy I've had, I think the Boplaas 17 finished in Tawny port casks is much better but then I also prefer kwv 12 in all honesty.

Give Benriach the twelve a try. It's much better than any, Macallan

What are your favourite flavours that can help with better suggestions too.

Agree on the Macallan, it was ok... not great, but I don't think I'd pay for it again. I tasted along with these last night:

I didn't enjoy the Glengoyne at all. I don't really have the most skilled tasting abilities, still learning, but to me it was just extremely thin. It's at a lower price point but I expected better.

The Signet was exceptional though, full bodied and with a hint of sweetness. None of the flavours were fighting with each other, everything was just well balanced. I do think that it makes for a great after dinner drink, it has a richness that I think would round out a meal well. Honestly though, there's a chance I may mistake this for a cognac or brandy in a blind taste test... but admittedly I'm still learning.

As for my taste preferences it's definitely leaning towards the smoothness and sweetness of brandy. I love the honey and caramel notes. I had the KWV 15 the other day, just one glass and not much time to take it in... but I definitely want to get a bottle of it. Tokara XO is also not bad at the price point, decent value for money.

I'm gonna be in NY for a few days, sitting at the airport now.

Any whisky that anyone has had in the US that we can't get here I should try bring back with me?

Look up Park Avenue Liquor store - they have some good stuff in stock and should be easy to access in NYC.

Agreed with others that I suspect Balcones or GB may be a challenge to find.

Ooofff!! What a dram!!

This Eclipse release is temporarily replacing the standard 50%ABV one.

Caramel...vanilla...toasted oak on the nose.
Espresso, chocolate...and sweet red pepper with some chili camouflages the very delicate aniseed.

Immense and extremely long finish of coffee and cocoa and toasted wood.
