Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

JSD found some stock of their TSW Bourbon Cask. They for sale on their website.
Not 750ml though so you'll have to get a few extra.

That Talisker seems quite pricey at £85.00 and isn't the standard 1L travel exclusive, is 700ml. Looks good though

Wife came thorugh Istanbul Duty Free a couple of weeks back and offered to get me one. It was just shy of €100 for 700ml's so I said no, too expensive, and she got me a 1L PC 10 instead. Never seen these in 1L.

Lovely

Cold and rainy last night, so a good time to crack some new bottles.

I am continuing with the Barrell saga and man oh man...what a ride!!

These guys are on the edge with their barrel selections, but this just works! The sweetness of the Rum vs the bitterness of the Amaro, creates amazing balance.

Then the overripe pear on the nose and resting forever on the finish. The Bourbon here is just the vessel to carry flavor...like fat on a steak. But of course it still provides the dark sugar and vanilla we need.

Then my first Barrell Bourbon...the Batch 31.

Oak and tobacco on the nose, transitioning into apple pie and maybe some baking spices.
So much fruit on the palate. But not overly sweet...lots of citrus and more spices.
And then some burnt sugar and maybe even a Navy Rum on the late finish.

Last but not least: Stellum Black Bourbon. Also from the Barrell team of blenders.

The nose is nearly overwhelming...vanilla and orange followed by burnt wood.

Leather and burnt orange on the palate. Spices follow...especially cinnamon. But sweet cinnamon, like you would have with sugar on a pancake.

Dark chocolate on the finish with more spices.

Reminds me of Booker's...but amped up by a 100.

How its going.

This is batch 2021-01E

Incredible nose. It's everything I love in bourbon. Caramel and spice and everything nice. Does not drink hot for the 62% abv. Everyone that tried it last night enjoyed it and was surprised at the abv.
It is exceptional and one of my favorites. I also highly recommend it's little brother...Baker's.
