Hmmm kinda keen. Reckon it's worth it?

I'm generally not a fan of Whisky that says Select or Reserve. Personally I think it's a marketing gimmick from Diageo but it's worth the money if someone is considering buying the collection.

Quick question, would you ones be able to tell the difference between a R300 and a R900 bottle?

Good question

I'd say yes for me... But the difference is more between quality than cost... Though the 2 are quite closely linked. E.g. there are some R400 bottles that can stand close to R700 based on your taste buds

There are some R900 whiskeys that taste like battery acid. Yet to find a good tasting R300 whiskey though. So it depends, really.

You've never had bad expensive whiskey? Because I sure as **** have. And I've also had surprisingly good cheaper whiskey. My point was that price isn't necessarily a deciding factor on taste or quality.

Suppose some members are not fully awake ...yet.
So if i say some expensive whisky tastes like schit..... you really think it did taste like schit ? It's saying it tastes bad.

Now get a coffee and start working.

I think Johnny Walker Platinum is the most expensive 'worst' whisky I've tried. I got it as a gift but it goes for around R1200 the last time I looked, and I can honestly say I prefer Red to that :erm:

Well, in a subculture where people say they pick up notes of daffodils on which a unicorn urinated, perhaps I should have considered that my phrasing would've been taken too literally.

We have had a couple of blind testing evenings, which is extremely interesting.

When people see an expensive R2000 bottle vs a R300 bottle, the mind plays tricks into thinking it should be better.
We have had some very interesting results where a lot of the time cheaper bottles wins over the more expensive ones.
