Point noted, I dont think we'll have an answer to that.
Anyway, I'm obviously not happy so I'm not going to comment....I'd rather keep quiet if I've got nothing good to say.
Ya it doesn't make sense.
I just asked for a refund. Waste of my time otherwise. My order number ended in 071

Anyone had an update on the 6 bottle special from any of the shops that offered it?

Getting a bit worried about the lack of feedback from Bottega.

I got mail that they would be getting stock this week and start calling people to collect from Wednesday onwards. Edit this is Bottega

My order number ended in 092. Would be interesting to know the order numbers of the other people in this group.

I don't think the last three numbers of your 5 digit WB order number has anything to do with the 60 bottles that were available.

Your order numbers were probably something like WB29071 or WB29092 or something to that effect?

That is just a system generated order number indicating that WB has had 29 092 orders in total since they opened the shop or activated the specific stock/ecommerce system that they are using.

i think his point is the spread of order numbers, it is highly likely that orders around that time were for one thing, and could indicate how many were actually granted and how the order was decided. eg is an earlier order number didnt get but a later one did it indicates some sort of bias?

as a side note: i would be cautious to share a valid order number here, in case someone uses it to scam with in terms of updating the delivery address for example manually with them. Maybe nominate one long term member and everyone pm's him and he can discuss with another member and share without specific details

Aah ok sure, that does make sense...I can also see that being the angle of comparison here.

Interesting how interpretation can differ during an online discussion instead of face to face, so I'll readily admit being most probably wrong in what I thought they meant with the order numbers.

That would take some doing and extreme gullibility on WB admin's side. But I guess theoretically, anything is possible.

I am very new to Whiskey, started a handful of months ago.

Decided to start off with some really entry level stuff, some bottles I had been gifted over the last year or two, with the likes of Johnny Walker Red Label, Bells, Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack to name a few. I am currently having Jameson Triple Distilled, which I almost finished with. So far I have either added a few drops of water or medium sized ice block.

I decided today to venture out to the bottle store for the first time in something like 3-4 months and picked up:

Monkey Shoulder - R330
Glenlivet Founder's Reserve - R380
Bushmills Black Bush - R340
Three Ships 10 YO - R300

I think the pricing was fair, especially the Three Ships 10 YO where I believe it's usually in the mid R500's. But I am sure you lot would be able to guide me.

Would someone be able to suggest which Whiskey I should get into next? And should I rather get a good few Whiskey's deep into a bottle before trying another, or sample as I go?

Not sure how you feel about peated whisky so perhaps start with the three ships 10 and see how it goes. If you like peat then there is a whole world of whisky ahead of you. Ardbeg 10, laphroaig 10 etc.

Bushmills is Irish, so should be easy going. Monkey shoulder has fans and haters. I think it's a decent blended malt.

What did you think of Jack Daniels? If you liked that it would be worth venturing into makers mark, buffalo trace and Sazerac rye.

Oh you should also add Bains to your list and if you haven't had it. Three ships 5yo is good bang for buck everyday drinking whisky (if you like peat).

I quite enjoy the Glenlivet as an easy drink - Monkey Shoulder as well has its days

If you like sweeter stuff as well try Glenmorangie Lasanta or Quinta Ruban as well
