Got a little order in last week, hopefully it arrives next week sometime:

I hope that 9yo is good!

I consider the 9yo fino one of the best whiskies I've tasted and probably the second-best product they've released.

From the Distillery. They can arrange a courier as well. PM me if you need the contact details.

Still think the Bains 15 is the better value bottle but this isn't bad at R1275 per 750ml. Personally I preferred the Fino and then the PX, the Oloroso really didn't do it for me.

Does anyone know a bottle store in JHB that stocks Jameson round or Jameson lively? I have seen it at a tops but that was a couple years ago.

Noob whiskey drinker here, which are some SA budget friendly ones you'd recommend?

If you like peat/smoke Three Ships 5, is a fantastic buy. Usually runs around R180-220. As you say you're new to whisky you may enjoy this if you prefer coffee/cigars/deep red wines.

If you like sweet, grab Bains. Usually around R250-300. Probably can't go wrong with this.

Both are quality products. The only things I consider price contenders are American Bourbon/Whiskey, such as Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniel's Rye, and Glen Moray's Peated single malt.

I remember seeing these at Makro Riversands some time back. I also think you may find at Bottega.

2007 Three Ships Vintage 10yo is being bottled today!
Should be on shelves by end August

How does Three Ships 5 compare to something like Jamesons, considering that the latter is almost double the price of the former?

Very different. Jameson's is going to be a lot closer to Bains. It really depends on what flavours you like as to whether you'll prefer it to Jameson's. For someone like myself, I certainly would pick the 5 yo over Jamesons but for someone who isn't that into peated whisky (or whisky that tastes more like you've been smoking something), it's going to be a different story...
