Good value for money. The Chardonnay Cask is very interesting. The Peated is a big amount of Peat for the bucks.

Where did you find it? Ive tried the liquor city here by Cape SUV but they only had one bottle a while ago and never again.

The Liquor Citys that I've seen with plenty stock (last time I was there) were the dodgy Liquor City Brackenfell near the station, Brackenfell Oasis (plenty stock on Saturday of all of them) Somerset West, Greenpoint and Claremont. I'd recommend Brackenfell Oasis.

I see the Whisky Library at Rust en Vrede has added another entire shelf to their already +/- 550 bottles (I think it was?)

They have moved the Three Ships here and have many Bourbons.
There is some new stuff but it is mostly stuff that was moved from the main room. It does make it all easier to see. Although I'm hardly ever going to pick a bottle to have a pour from without knowing the price first :D!

Have any of you ever ordered through MasterofMalt.com? Anybody know how much import tax would be on Whisky?

Import tax depends on the alcohol by volume...but it is very little.

Duty and 12A cost is about R70 per bottle.

Then you pay 15% VAT of course on the Whisky itself and a R200 DHL pre-clearance fee.

I buy from MoM all the time and it is a very easy and smooth process.

I tried these two last night

Peaky Blinder is R240 from WB so why not. An initial strange oily note on the nose followed by Cadbury's fruit and nut dairy milk chocolate and lots of toffee. This translates to the palate where you get a bit of fruit salad and some toffee apple in amongst the toffee and fruit and nut chocolate. Short finish. Reminds me a bit of the Famous Grouse Bourbon Cask release - nice enough for a palate cleansing whisky but will not buy again. For an entry level Irish, Powers core release is so much value.

Then on to the Ardnamurchan 2nd release. So much going on in the glass, on the nose, on the palate. Layers and complexity like I haven't experienced since Rogues Banquet (my whisky of 2020). It is all about the art of whisky. Those are my initial thoughts and I will revisit tonight to capture some more detailed notes but this blew me away. A few on here have differing thoughts on this one and it has resulted in some debate. Based on some of the other samples that I’ve had from Ardnamurchan, this distillery is going to cause a lot more debate. Exciting stuff, indeed.

Blanton's Gold

/

Indeed, best bourbon I've had so far.
Takealots price for Blanton's Gold seems very reasonable compared to WhiskyBrother etc so decided to just give it a try. Just in time for the long weekend :) Seen Sazerac recommended on here too and also decent price so threw one of those in to try, never had a rye whisky.

Great price that...especially with the free delivery from TA. I'm not a Bourbon fan, but this blew me away and ticked all the boxes. Let us know when you've opened and tasted.

Blantons price for new stock also up around R400 - so get it below R1k while stocks last.

Will have to crack it this weekend and try.
