It's light because there is no colouring it it.

A few drops of water was sufficient for me. Not sure I could taint it with soda.

I've had the cask strength Caol Ila before very similar

I tend to switch between water and soda depending on mood, I find soda works well on a hot day

I'm very much enjoying the kilchoman Machir Bay. Not overly heavy on the peat and shows its young age. But goes down really well.

Got given another bottle of Johnnie Red as a gift this year, not a JW fan :(

JW Red is not the best.

Here's our collection after Christmas additions.

What Lagavulin is that? Doesn't look like a normal 16 yr old

It's a distiller's edition so not the true Lagavulin. I want to get the normal one. Think I might save up for some Coal Ila before that though.

Enjoy the festive everyone.

Happy new year to all.
Bought a bottle of Monkey Shoulder last week.
Not impressed at all. Smells of cheap whisky. Very strong taste.
With all the good reviews all over the web I had big hopes for this one.
Is it possible that I got a bad batch? (it does say "batch 27" like the others)

I am with you, I enjoyed it but because of all the great reviews I expected so much more. Some even said it's way better than Jw black
