Sure, and distinction is what I look for in a whiskey. I chase out of the ordinary flavours. The Springbanks I went through were pretty freshly opened so maybe I need to find some older opened bottles to try. I didn't find them bad, I just didn't get what the fuss is about as they came across as nothing particularly special.The Springbanks need air, more than just time in the glass. Get the bottle down to 2/3 and give it a month or 2. The Springbanks have a strange funkyness that doesn't appeal to a lot of people.
I totally agree on the different strokes, the more a Whisky has a distinct character the more likelyhood of differing opinions.
