The Springbanks need air, more than just time in the glass. Get the bottle down to 2/3 and give it a month or 2. The Springbanks have a strange funkyness that doesn't appeal to a lot of people.

I totally agree on the different strokes, the more a Whisky has a distinct character the more likelyhood of differing opinions.
Sure, and distinction is what I look for in a whiskey. I chase out of the ordinary flavours. The Springbanks I went through were pretty freshly opened so maybe I need to find some older opened bottles to try. I didn't find them bad, I just didn't get what the fuss is about as they came across as nothing particularly special.

Thanks to a fellow forum member, now have replica Compass Box acrylic boxes. Custom made ones for the magnum bottles too. Really cool to look at on the shelf now.

The cases (and the collection!) are amazing. Right up my alley.

Are the cases available for purchase from somewhere? Had a quick look on Amazon but cant find anything useful. If someone is able to manufacture these and make them good quality, they will make a killing!

+1 on this. If the mystery forum member is looking to sell some, count me in.

Custom made in Cape Town. Let's see what can be done.

These were all made to order, but we now have the dimensions worked out.

Hello everyone :)

I'm the mystery forum member who arranged for the boxes to be made/ built.

I'm open to supply more to whoever would want.
There were custom made for the Compass Box bottles, and these are easily replicatable. But open to other box sizes depending on quantity.

As this is a whisky thread, I'm also a fan of whisky.
Like everyone I enjoy a range of whisies.
Everything from speyside, to single grain like the CB Hedonism, to the peated delighted of Kilchoman.

Welcome Shaun. Love your work! This is the display case I never knew I needed...

Without holding you to it - what is a plus minus on cost for a quantity of say 50 of the Compass Box boxes. Just want a rough idea so know what I can/can't achieve.

Looking to case an Ardbeg collection (which will be a slightly shorter and fatter bottle) but will contact you to discuss further.

How would you prefer we contact you?

So contacting me here on the forum is good, I was never too actively previously, more of a lurker, but if people are interested in contacting me, then PM'ing me here is cool.
Let me get some pricing for you on the CB boxes.

We can discuss the Ardbeg ones too, those would probably be a similar price, luckily, everything made by Ardbeg is the same... so I'll measure my bottle of Ardbeg to get some specs :-)

How many Ardbeg boxes could you be interested in?

20-30 boxes needed for the Ardbeg's dependant on pricing. I have a mix of 750ml and 700ml bottles but they can all be modelled to fit a 750ml bottle.

Cool - look forward to hearing from you.

I am new to this bitter watered down juice with ice cubes and loads of H2O
It's kinda, all the same, the more drunk you get
Start with a nice expensive Monkeys Balls and over the evening move to Grants, and then Harrier Jump Jet whatever when you're totally ****ed.

That's what I am doing tonight coz beer boozing every day is making me fat and not phat, already had 2 quarts and a coupla whiskeys/whiskeys/whiskpees etc

You won't be sorry.

I am likely to place an order for a few more pretty soon too.

Try approach it the other way, beer/budget whisky on the rocks first and a little bit of the good stuff later on when a little goes a long way neat or with a bit of water.

I'll drink to wind down or get tipsy but getting drunk takes too much out of me these days.

I must give that a try and not down the stuff. When I start drinking I am trashed 90 minutes later

View attachment 1143626are you talking about this?

That's the one. If I'm not mistaken that's distilled by another company they've just rebranded it while they get their own whisky distillation and aging going.

Edit. Indeed.

Crabbie 12 Year Old Bottling Note
12 year old single malt from an undisclosed distillery, released by John Crabbie & Co. as its distillery gets set up. According to the label, this is a lightly peated Island single malt, so we'll leave you to try and figure out which distillery it came from...

Let me guess, Caol Ila
