Will doTell me what u think of the Auchy, my opinion is that triple distilled whisky is a bit muted in flavours.

Going to a tasting end of the month, so will find out.
I am definitely going to the next whisky live in Cape Town, will NOT miss it again.I saw it advertised on aficionados. Tasting opportunities have dried up in jhb. Next one would be whisky live in November.

When the Whisky Live in Cape Town scheduled? I rate the Wade Bales Wine and Whisky Affair much better than Whisky Live. The Wade Bales is usually in May.
Whisky Live CT was in April this year. It was a great night.
That's a long time to wait for the next one. Try out the Wade Bales as well and compare. U get to meet brand ambassadors, there's no coupons/tickets, much better whisky on offer and the under-the-counter whiskies are really special.
The date for 2017 has not been set yet but will have a look at the Wade Bales thanks. When the Whisky Live in Cape Town scheduled? I rate the Wade Bales Wine and Whisky Affair much better than Whisky Live. The Wade Bales is usually in May.

Having the benefit of tasting the Lagavulin 16 and the Ardbeg Uigeadail my personal choice would be the Ardbeg. The combination of sherried peat and cask strength(54% Abv) makes it a better choice over the Lagavulin(for me). I don't mean to berate your choice, I'm just wondering why people choose Laughlin over the Ardbeg.
I have never tasted Ardbeg so I cannot comment.
So I guess your choice came down to a combination of marketing/availability/word of mouth? You should try some laphroig or ardbeg if you ever have a chance.
Word of mouth. My son loves his whisky and he suggested that I try it. His words were "One of the best whiskies I have ever had" He was the 2nd person that suggested it to me. When I get the opportunity I will try the others.
