Hate Jameson, Tullamore Dew is nice and I love Bushmills.

I am pretty poor, so I am just trying to find a cheap whisky that is palatable.

I won't be trying the Three Ships again, I can assure you.

I am trying the 5yo, not the cheap cheap one.
Try Black and White or Cattos (only at Prestons). or make a turn at my place tomorrow and I'll give you a free sample...

Djy is vol k@k vir 'n arm man.

Powers?

Glen Grant?

Go here: whisky.co.za

Vol ***? Ja!

Powers not cheap, last time I bought it. Was quite nice though.

Have an empty bottle of Glen Grant right next to me actually. Not bad, but I think I prefer Irish.

Exactly the same way :D

This is the cheap Canadian one:

I make it a point to stay away from anything ESnel and Co produce (Jack Tarr, Cape to Rio, Wellington, Firstwatch). Never had a good experience with their stuff.

I just got a bottle for my birthday, cant wait to give it a go.

Bought a bottle of Glenmorangie 18yo Saturday for a whiskey tasting we had at someone's house. I was blown away. It's got a lingering, almost oily after-taste that is very pleasant and unlike any other brands I've tried. Out of the 6-7 whiskeys we had, it definitely came out tops for me.

Top 3 for me:
1. Glenmorangie 18yo
2. Glenlivet 15 yo
3. Glenfiddich 18yo

Green Label was almost in 3rd place. But a bit of ice added to the Glenfiddich 18yo really made it shine. I really don't know much about whiskey, but I'm starting to love it. In act, let me go pour myself a Glenmorangie right now! :D

EDIT: Glenmorangie is on special at Makro's liquor store for R899 btw.

So I bought myself a bottle of Glen Grant 10yo and Tullamore Dew 12yo. Must say the Tullamore is not bad at all. I was actually looking at the Glenlivet and the Bushmills 10yo. Those 2 will be on my wishlist for the next purchase.

I have not enjoyed a Bushmills in yonks. It's a fine dram that is.

My friend dropped of old no. 7 at my place today. I'm going to use this as the benchmark for all my other friendships (future, current and past) :D

Well, searching for a not-godawful whisky, I have a bottle of The Famous Grouse. It's a bit rough, but pretty smooth for 120 bucks.

Famous Grou... sigh.

Go to a liquor store, tell them you want a Whiskey for R250 and up that has the word Black on it :p

I walked into my local liquor store the other day. Woman asked the guy working there, that she wants to buy her Whiskey loving husband a bottle of whiskey for Christmas. And it must be a good whiskey, because he knows his stuff (she obviously doesn't know whiskey). He peddled JW Black Label to her........And just next to it was a few different single malts (all the Glen's). Maybe it's just me.

Then again you can't expect every person working in the local liquor store to be whiskey expert.
